On January 4, the outgoing US president, Joe Biden, confirmed the nexus between the Democrats and the radical left, by granting the US highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, to George Soros.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and a soon to be part of the new look administration under President-elect Donald Trump, unleashed his displeasure on social media over the award to Soros. Musk labelled the honour a “travesty” and posted on X (formerly Twitter), “A travesty that Biden is giving Soros the Medal of Freedom.”
Republican leaders like Nikki Haley also criticized this decision, saying it supports interference in other nations’ politics.
Controversies around Soros
The highest civilian award of the US is presented to people who have made “exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values or security of the US, world peace or other significant societal, public or private endeavours.” However, George Soros seems to have only made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values and security of the Democratic Party, not the United States’.
Instead of contributing to world peace, Soros has sought to destabilize a number of countries, from England to India. However it seems Joe Biden was more keen to acknowledge his contributions to the Democratic party through the award.
In a White House press statement, George Soros was recognized as “an investor, philanthropist, and founder of the Open Society Foundations.” The White House underlined his global impact: “Through his network of foundations, partners, and projects in more than 120 countries, Soros has focused on global initiatives that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.”
However, below the surface there is a very different story: Soros was blamed for devaluing the British pound, and Southeast Asian leaders accused him of triggering the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
Soros’s various initiatives in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America have led to accusations of promoting regime change to serve Western interests. Soros is far from a champion of democracy and social justice but rather a rich man with a deep desire to meddle in international politics. His Open Society Foundation (OSF) operates in over 120 countries and meddles in their internal affairs under the guise of funds and initiatives promoting democracy, human rights, and freedom of speech.
Soros is known for funding progressive causes and supporting certain district attorneys in the US, which has already caused controversy. But what’s more worrying is his organization’s efforts to interfere in other countries’ politics. In 2020, Soros gave a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he openly criticized India’s government and its nationalist policies.
The Soros family is well connected with the liberal democrat groups, especially the US Democrat party. Despite being young, George Soros’ sons are very much involved with the party politics of the Democrats. Alex Soros, the second youngest son of George and a prolific political donor to Democrats, is now engaged to Huma Abedin. Huma Abedin was one of Hillary Clinton’s top advisers.
Deep State connections
The idea of a “deep state” becomes believable when we see how these groups work together. Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF) fund organizations like OCCRP, while US government agencies also support them. Together, they form a strong network that can influence public opinion and political decisions in other countries.
Usually US aid has been linked to a host of political interferences in countries under the guise of promoting democracy and providing aid. Its funding patterns often align with US geopolitical interests, destabilizing governments not aligned with US policies.
In this light, Joe Biden giving such a prestigious award to Soros does not seem like a recognition for charity work. It looks like an approval for his charity to the Democrats over the years. It also looks seems apparent as an acceptance of a system that operates without any democratic accountability.
