On Saturday, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán gave a powerful speech in Budapest. During Hungary’s national day, he gave decisive messages – the time has come to eliminate the “shadow army” of foreign-funded politicians, journalists, and NGOs that threaten Hungary’s sovereignty. Orbán’s rhetoric underscores his unwavering commitment to defending Hungary from external influence, especially from the European Union and what he terms the “liberal American empire.”

Cracking Down on Foreign Influence

Orbán’s government has long been at odds with the European Union over issues of national sovereignty, cultural identity, and foreign intervention. In his speech, he made it clear that his administration will intensify efforts to curb foreign financial influence in Hungary’s media and political landscape.

“After today’s festive gathering comes the Easter cleaning. The bugs have overwintered,” Orbán said. “We will dismantle the financial machine that has used corrupt dollars to buy politicians, judges, journalists, pseudo-NGOs, and political activists. We will eliminate the entire shadow army.”

This statement shows Orbán’s belief that Hungary’s political and judicial institutions must be shielded from external manipulation. The notion that foreign-backed entities seek to subvert national interests is not new, but Orbán’s resolve to take decisive action has intensified, especially following the inauguration of U.S. President Donald Trump, a close political ally. The syndicate of foreign funding was exposed after the information on USAID came out. The organization has been clearly seen funding media houses and NGOs to change perceptions among people in different countries around the world.

Defending National Identity and Security

The Hungarian leader has emphasized the need to protect Hungary’s identity and sovereignty from foreign influence, especially from pro-EU forces pushing for a more integrated Europe.

“The rulers of Europe decided that Ukraine must continue the war at all costs, and it will get a fast EU membership in exchange, using our money,” Orbán stated. “We can only have one answer to that: a Union but without Ukraine.”

Orbán’s opposition to Ukraine’s EU membership is rooted in concerns about financial burden-sharing and the geopolitical consequences of further entanglement in the ongoing war. His resistance to unchecked military aid to Ukraine further solidifies his position as a leader prioritizing national interests over international pressure and so-called liberal values.

A Strong Stance Against Uncontrolled Immigration

One of Orbán’s defining policies has been his firm stance against illegal migration, a position he backed in his recent speech. He denounced the “great replacement theory,” warning against what he described as a coordinated effort to dilute Europe’s cultural identity.

“The battle today is actually being fought for the soul of the Western world,” he asserted. “The empire wants to mix and then replace the Indigenous people of Europe with invading masses arriving from foreign civilizations.”

This statement aligns with Orbán’s long-standing position that mass migration poses a fundamental threat to European heritage and stability. Hungary’s border policies reflect this ideology, with strong measures taken to prevent illegal immigration and safeguard the nation’s cultural fabric. He proudly says that Hungary does not have illegal migrants, and that’s why we have less crime, hence, be like Hungary.

Legislative Measures to Protect Hungary’s Future

In addition to cracking down on foreign-funded NGOs and media, Orbán’s government is pursuing legislative measures to ensure national security. His Fidesz party has introduced constitutional amendments targeting individual organizations deemed threats to sovereignty.

One proposed amendment would allow for the suspension of Hungarian dual citizens’ nationality if they are found to be working against the country’s interests. Another measure seeks to restrict public LGBTQ+ demonstrations, including the banning of the annual Budapest Pride event.

These legislative steps reflect Orbán’s broader idea of maintaining Hungary’s cultural and political independence. His government has consistently opposed liberal policies imposed by Brussels, favouring a nationalistic approach that prioritizes Hungarian values and traditions. Every nation has the right to make its own policies, and pressure from other European countries to have a special kind of policy is itself an imposition and against liberal values, which are hypocritical.

A Leader Who Stands Firm

Critics in the EU and Western media portray his policies as authoritarian, but Orbán remains clear in his mission to keep Hungary independent of any foreign pressure and involvement. His commitment to eliminating foreign influence, securing Hungary’s borders, and preserving national identity positions him as a leader who refuses to bow to external pressures. In an era where globalist forces seek to erode national sovereignty, Viktor Orbán stands as a beacon of resilience for those who value self-determination and cultural preservation.
