The USA’s Shameful Submission Before Qatar

The United States of America – led by the Biden administration, has bent over backwards to please Qatar. That’s right. The most powerful country of the world has submitted to a medieval, Islamist Middle Eastern kingdom. Why has it done so? You see, ever since Joe Biden has come to power, the United States has been losing friends and allies at an unprecedented pace. In the Middle East particularly, the Biden administration has gone on a campaign to antagonise the Saudi-led Arab order and Israel. This has resulted in the U.S. losing its status as a superpower in the region, and it now finds itself in desperate need of friends. Therefore, it is wooing Qatar with mind-boggling overtures.

The United States and Qatar signed an accord on Friday for Qatar to represent U.S. diplomatic interests in Afghanistan. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani signed the agreement making Qatar the U.S.’ “protecting power” in Afghanistan. Antony Blinken was quoted as saying, “Qatar will establish a U.S. interest section within its embassy in Afghanistan to provide certain consular services and monitor the condition and security of U.S. diplomatic facilities in Afghanistan.”

According to the agreement signed between Washington and Doha, Qatar will dedicate certain staff from its embassy in Afghanistan to a U.S. Interests Section and will coordinate closely with U.S. State Department and with the U.S. mission in Doha. A U.S. official quoted by Reuters said, “The protecting power arrangement envisions that Qatar would facilitate any formal communication between the United States and Afghanistan.”

Separately, according to another agreement, Qatar will temporarily host up to 8,000 at-risk Afghans who have applied for special immigrant visas (SIV) and their eligible family members. For the same, Blinken even showered praises on Qatar – showing how the Biden administration is shamelessly cuddling with a terror-sponsoring regime in the Middle East.

Qatar’s Support for the Taliban

Qatar has been sponsoring the Taliban, providing a haven to its senior-most officials and even advocating for the world to accept the Taliban as a legitimate stakeholder of Afghan polity. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, among the most important functionaries of the Taliban and the man who is largely held responsible for the sweeping invasion across Afghanistan, was incidentally flown to Kandahar from Doha by the Qatari Air Force, days after the Islamist militants had swept across the country.

As early as 2013, Qatar allowed the Taliban to open an office in Doha. Al Jazeera – which is owned by Qatar and operated out of Doha has never shied away from giving the Taliban a platform. The Taliban uses Al Jazeera to address the public regularly. It also broadcast the Taliban’s entry into the presidential palace in Kabul in August.

During the evacuation process in Afghanistan, Qatar naturally enjoyed a position of an advantage owing to its good ties with the Taliban. Therefore, the Biden administration praised Qatar for its role in evacuating tens of thousands of people from the Kabul airport.

Qatar’s Support for Islamist Terrorism and the Muslim Brotherhood

Qatar remains one of Hamas’ largest funders and supporters. Qatar has pledged more than $1.1 billion to Hamas since 2012. Hamas, in turn, has been waging a war on the Jewish nation of Israel for years now. So, in a way, Qatar has been funding anti-Semitic violence, and the Biden administration is now getting in bed with the same Islamist kingdom.

Qatar openly supports the Muslim Brotherhood. Recognised as a terrorist group by the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Russia, Syria, Saudi Arabia and others, the Muslim Brotherhood is accredited as the source and inspiration for Hamas and also the Al Qaeda. The Muslim Brotherhood has received more than $1 billion from the Qatari government so far.

Ahrar Al-Sham, a Syrian militant group and Kataib Hezbollah, an Iranian-sponsored Shia militia that works on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran are among the other violent Islamist organisations supported and financed by Qatar. Qatar has also been supporting Al Qaeda in subtle ways. Yes, the same Al Qaeda responsible for the 9/11 attacks! Today, under Joe Biden, the U.S. is embracing same Qatar.

Biden’s Shameless Submission Before Qatar

In what should disturb Americans as a whole, the U.S. Defense Department is encouraging the sale of more than $500 million worth of armed drones to Qatar. The only reason the sale has not taken place yet is due to the resistance the deal is facing from the State Department, which believes that the U.S. will be comprehensively dumped by the Saudi-led Arab order if the arms deal with Qatar is allowed to go through.

Qatar is already the U.S.’s second-largest foreign military sales partner, with more than $26 billion in active cases. According to NBC News, the U.S. sells Qatar Patriot long-range missile defence systems, the F-15QA fighter aircraft — the most advanced F-15 in the U.S. inventory — and AH-64E Apache attack helicopters.

The United States is practically digging its own grave by supporting Qatar and forging greater ties with it. Qatar has done nothing but backstab the U.S. and serve the Taliban’s interests throughout. Qatar has been an allied state of Iran for a long time and has been declared a pariah entity by the Arab world since 2017. Yet, the Biden administration is mindlessly pursuing greater ties with this Middle Eastern kingdom, and the same will decimate the U.S. in the region soon enough.
