TWQ (The Washington Quarterly) is an international affairs magazine that covers subjects and concerns related to global security, diplomatic relations, and policy consequences. TWQ is published by the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington, DC, and was founded by the famous think tank, Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The Washington Quarterly (TWQ) is a global security policy journal that provides diverse perspectives on strategic changes, trends, and relations around the world along with their public policy implications. The Elliott School of International Affairs (often known as the Elliott School or ESIA) is the George Washington University’s professional school of international relations, foreign policy, and international development in Washington, D.C. It is the largest school of international relations in the United States and is highly placed in international affairs.

History

(The Washington Quarterly) TWQ was established in 1978 at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, one of the country’s most prestigious think tanks. Routledge was TWQ’s first publisher.

TWQ was granted patronage by the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in 2014. TWQ’s publication agreement with Routledge expired at the same time, and Taylor & Francis took over. Taylor & Francis Group is an international publishing house based in England that specializes in academic journals and books. It is a branch of Informa plc, a publisher and conference organizer based in the United Kingdom.

Style of writing and scope

Contributors represent a wide range of political, geographical, and professional viewpoints from both within and outside the United States. The essays are authoritative, yet they are prepared for the generalist in global politics who is well-informed. TWQ (The Washington Quarterly) is regarded as a source of sharp, independent thinking about global political and security challenges and policies by members of the analytical, diplomatic, intelligence, media, and policymaking sectors. TWQ has subscribers in more than 50 countries.
