Ratanpur Mahamaya Mandir – Guide

Mahamaya Mandir is a temple dedicated to the dual goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati located in Ratanpur and is one of the 52 Shaktipeeths spread across India, temples of Shakti, the divine feminine. Ratanpur is a small town full of temples and ponds located about 25 km away from Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. Goddess Mahamaya also known as Kosaleshwari is the presiding deity of the old South Kosala region.

History of this Temple

Ratanpur Mahamaya Mandir was built in the 12-13th century, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Mahamaya. It was built during the reign of Kalachuris of Ratnapur. It is said to be located at the place where King Ratnadev had a vision of Goddess Kali. Originally the temple was for three goddesses namely Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati.

Later, Maha Kali left the old temple. Still later, a new temple was built by Raja Bahar Sai which was for Goddess Maha Lakshmi and Goddess Maha Saraswati. This temple was built in Vikram Samvat 1552 (1492 AD). Traditionally Mahamaya is the Kuldevi of Ratanpur state.

Ratanpur Mahamaya Mandir opens daily at 5.00 am and closes at 7.00 pm. The schedule may occasionally change. Devotees can visit the Goddess from 5.30 am to 6.45 pm.The morning aarti starts at 5.30 am. The timing of Sandhya Aarti is 6.30 pm.

Siddhivinayak Mandir

Lord Ganesha Temple is one of the most popular temple of Ratanpur, it is located in Ratanpur city of Chhattisgarh district. This temple is considered very beautiful, there are many trees planted in the temple, which make it even more attractive. The idol of Ganesha is enshrined in this temple.

Lakhani Devi Temple

Lakhani Devi Temple is located in Bilaspur district of Ratanpur district in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. This ancient temple of Lakhni Devi is situated on a hill in Ratanpur village, about 25 km from Bilaspur. The word Lakhni Devi is considered to be a form of Lakshmi, Mahalakshmi, the goddess of wealth, happiness, prosperity and opulence. The mountain on which this temple is built is known by many names.

Panchmukhi Shiv Temple

Panchmukhi Shiv Temple is located in Ratanpur town, about 25 km from Bilaspur. It is situated near the ancient Mahamaya Devi Temple. Lord Shiva is revered in the form of a Shivalinga installed in a red stone temple. This Siddha Rudreshwar Pashupatinath Mahadev Panchmukhi Shiva Temple is very old Shiva temple like Pashupatinath Temple of Nepal.

By Air- The nearest airport from Ratanpur Mahamaya Mandir is Raipur airport which is at a distance of 10 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Ratanpur Mahamaya Mandir is Bilaspur railway station which is at a distance of about 92 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
