Ashapura Mata Mandir – Guide

Ashapura Mata Mandir is dedicated to Ashapura Mata, the chief goddess of the Jadeja Rajputs. The temple was commissioned under the rule of the Jadeja dynasty and was constructed by two Karad vanis Ajo and Anagore. Ashapura Devi Maa, an incarnation of Annapurna Devi is popular among her devotees as she fulfils the wishes and desires of those who pray to her in need. In Gujarat, many other communities worship her as a Kuldevi.

History of this Temple

The origins of the Ashapura Mata Mandir have stepped into antiquity in the 14th century. References to Ashapura Devi Maa can be found in Puranas, Rudrayamal Tantra etc., all of which point to this temple in Kutch. Thus there is no ancient record that gives any indication of the beginning of worship in this temple, but it strongly suggests that the deity was very numerous in the 9th century AD, when the Rajput Samma clan of the Singh region first entered the north.
