Trudeau has a ‘Pride Plan’ to Solve the Unemployment Problem of Canada

Congratulations Folks! JT finally has a solution to the unemployment problem in the country. Unemployment remains a pressing concern in Canada. As the nation grapples with this ongoing problem, Mr. Prime Minister and his liberal caucus have introduced a new strategy.

Through the lens of inclusivity here comes the “Pride Plan.” But this plan has drawn criticism even before its enaction. It seems to have inadvertently sparked a debate on the prioritisation of certain groups.

The bill says, “A sustainable jobs approach should be inclusive and address barriers to employment with an emphasis on encouraging the creation of employment opportunities for groups underrepresented in the labour market, including women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, Black and other racialized individuals, 2SLGBTQI+ and other equity-seeking groups.”

Bill C-50, introduced by Minister of Natural Resources Jonathan Wilkinson, will assist the federal government’s initiatives to boost employment in the green energy sector.

This brings in the Liberal government’s ideology. The Trudeau government appears to prioritise its own ideological agenda over practical solutions.

The bill would also strike an advisory council, whose membership would be subject to diversity requirements as well as regional representation.

Among the proposed bill’s criteria for advisory council members are, “The Indigenous knowledge of Indigenous peoples, climate change and climate policy at the regional, national and international levels.”

Bill C-50 identifies “issues related to industrial change and technological transformation” in the transition to a “net-zero economy,” which it declares it would monitor through research and economic and labour force forecasting.

National Post columnist Jamie Sarkonak noted that identity politics “is baked into (the bill’s) core,” speculating it will benefit “identity blocs that regularly form the focus of federal policy,” rather than all Canadians.

Identity-based preference has become conventional in Liberal job plans, citing the Canada Summer Jobs Program (CSJ) that’s backed by $400 million in government money. Although the program claims to help youth facing barriers to find employment, there are caveats.

Additionally, the federal government this week announced $25 million for an entrepreneurial programme targeted solely at the LGBT community. Although the programme is vague about how it would be done, prospective applicants will need to provide documentation of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

Now, through this “Pride Plan” Trudeau’s administration is all set to alienate those who believe in a pesky little thing called merit-based employment. But of course, the liberal government’s never-ending quest to inject their ideology into every corner of the country is truly impressive. Who needs pragmatic solutions when we can prioritize identity politics? It’s not like there are systemic issues contributing to unemployment or anything. Nope, let’s just ignore those inconvenient factors.
