The Code behind ‘Ukraine’s NATO Rejection’ is Finally Cracked

The Code behind ‘Ukraine’s NATO Rejection’ is Finally Cracked
Share on FacebookShare on X

In a war-ravaged Ukraine, the hope of NATO rescue flickers amidst shattered dreams. After extensive discussions, the alliance again acknowledged Ukraine’s progress but refrained from extending a formal invitation.

The reasons go beyond Ukraine’s readiness and delve into a strategic game of deterrence. It’s been over a year since the war in Ukraine erupted, leaving the nation scarred and unrecognizable. With Russia now controlling the eastern flank, the Ukrainian leadership pins its hopes on NATO, a guardian angel shrouded in uncertainty.

The Cancellation

The recent NATO summit discussions hinted at extending an invitation to Ukraine, but cancellation prevailed.

US President Joe Biden emphasized that the war with Russia must conclude before any membership invitation could be extended. Eastern members, backed by France and the UK, sought to include the word “invitation” and emphasize the political nature of the decision.

While Kyiv has made substantial progress on reforms, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also insisted on a clear, united, and positive message regarding Ukraine’s path to membership.

But consensus remains elusive, frustrating President Zelensky, who passionately advocates for NATO membership at any cost. Allies, however, stand firm in their belief that Ukraine is not yet ready for the alliance.

Understand the Big Game

Till now, there is no specific reason given by any Western power for resisting membership. However, know the hidden truth is out.

Behind the scenes, a deeper game unfolds, driven by the desire to avoid a full-blown NATO-Russia conflict. A revealing Daily Mail article sheds light on NATO’s concerns and the underlying reasons behind its stance.

Experts point out that Russia’s justification for invading Ukraine—a response to NATO expansionism—holds a key flaw. NATO’s expansion has occurred democratically, with each member state voluntarily joining the bloc. In contrast, Russian expansionism is historically imperialist and driven by force.

While some remain optimistic about Ukraine joining NATO soon, others caution against hasty decisions. They argue that granting membership while active combat continues could lead to a dangerous Nuclear escalation.

NATO’s primary concern is to prevent Russia from feeling cornered and potentially resorting to extreme measures, including nuclear weapons.

Not to mention, the West has significant interests and investments in Ukraine, having invested substantial resources. Premature NATO membership could jeopardize these interests, thus necessitating a cautious approach.

The worst-case scenario, experts warn, could be an all-out war when Ukraine enters NATO, pushing all 32 members into a bloody apocalyptic war.

So, it’s better to have a prolonged stalemate, where promises of membership fail to materialize.

The code behind “Ukraine’s NATO rejection” is finally cracked. It’s not solely about Ukraine’s readiness or flaws within the country. It’s a complex game of deterrence, preserving stability, and avoiding a catastrophic confrontation.

NATO doesn’t want a direct assault on Russia, because they have already seen how an indirect assault has affected. Ukraine needs to wait until the war stops and they secede defeat.
