The United States has remained a key supporter of Ukraine since the conflict erupted in February 2022, extending substantial military, financial, and humanitarian aid to the embattled nation. However, opinions within the American public have diverged widely regarding the level and efficacy of this support. Some express staunch backing for Ukraine’s resistance, while others harbor doubts about the depth of U.S. involvement and its outcomes.

Dissatisfaction stems from the belief that Ukraine faces insurmountable odds against Russia’s superior military strength. This perception has sparked concerns over pouring vast sums into a conflict where victory for Ukraine seems increasingly improbable. Even Ukrainian officials themselves, like former Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, have openly acknowledged the difficulties, admitting that Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia was faltering.

Despite these admissions, the U.S. continued its financial support for war-torn Kyiv. However, as concerns over the domestic economy, including fears of a recession and escalating living costs, grew, so did skepticism about allocating resources abroad while pressing issues at home remained unattended.

Biden promises new military aid for Kyiv

The conflict in Ukraine is poised to play a pivotal role in the upcoming midterm elections. Republicans may critique the Biden administration’s handling of the situation, while Democrats are expected to defend their stance on supporting Ukraine. However, there have been allegations that some media outlets are painting a more positive picture of Ukraine’s situation than reality warrants, perhaps to sustain public backing for U.S. involvement.

Recent revelations from Ukrainian military chief Valery Zaluzhny have stirred significant controversy. Zaluzhny’s admission that Ukraine needs 20,000 men monthly to survive has created uproar within the Ukrainian parliament, with calls for his resignation for failing to provide a viable war strategy for 2024.

Today’s numbers show Ukraine is losing between 650 and 800 men per day. And Russia has made devastating advances in the siege of Adiivka region, a getaway to Donetsk has completely fallen into the hands of Russia and now even Ukraine admits they can’t do enough to stop Russia.

Now, something big is happening in Ukraine. Valery Zaluzhny makes a big bold statement. He has confessed that, “We need 20,000 men per month to survive”. Now this has sparked considerable turmoil in the Ukrainian parliament. One Member of Parliament raised the voice for Valery Zaluzhny’s resignation. MP Mariana Bezglaya is calling for Zaluzhny to resign because he failed to provide a plan for the war in 2024. She says that she had this discussion with Zaluzhny and the top military brass and then she wrote about it on her FaceBook page. Now, she’s asking Zaluzhny to resign.

Zaluzhny as per Moon of Alabama reports “has no plans for 2024 because there’s nothing he can do about the upcoming defeat of the Ukrainian army.

Every time he urges to stop defending positions that can not be held, like Bakhmut and Avdiivka, the political leadership tells him use all reserves and to keep holding. Every time he urges to build strong defense lines and to retreat to them he gets overruled. There is thereby nothing, except one number, that he can plan for.

Avdiivka

That number is one of the irretrievable losses of the Ukrainian army is experiencing. Zaluzny needs 20,000 new men per month to replace the losses and to keep his army going.”

Now one thing to notice here. Valery zaluzhny’s statement, suggesting a bleak outlook for Ukraine’s army, has largely gone unreported in American media, prompting questions about the transparency of information reaching the American populace.

The US knows that Zaluzhny’s revelations could significantly impact the upcoming elections in the U.S. It might result in condemnation of the Democrats for their perceived handling of the conflict and possibly bolster support for Trump and the Republicans. The war in Ukraine has undoubtedly complicated the U.S. political landscape, raising legitimate concerns about the cost and efficacy of American aid and the transparency of information being relayed to the public.

The American media just shows the rosier picture of the situation than reality which is motivated by a desire to avoid turning the political tide in the US against the Biden administration.
