Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently voiced his concerns regarding the upcoming 2024 presidential election in the United States. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Musk emphasized the importance of a “red wave” for the Republican Party, stating that the US would face dire consequences if the party did not prevail.

Despite revealing his vote for Joe Biden in the 2020 election, Elon Musk has since criticized the incumbent president and clashed with his administration. One of Musk’s notable criticisms has been directed towards Biden’s handling of the Southern US border crisis. Additionally, Musk has accused Democrats of being “controlled by the unions,” adding to his growing critique of the party’s policies.

“I voted 100% Dem until a few years ago. Now, I think we need a red wave or America is toast,” Elon Musk wrote on X.

Elon Musk has garnered attention for his increasing criticism of President Biden, particularly after Tesla, the leading electric-car company in the US, was left out of a White House summit on electric vehicles (EVs) in 2021. Musk’s dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of EV policies has been evident, leading to speculations about his political inclinations for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

In a notable revelation last year, Musk expressed doubts about supporting Biden in the 2024 election. Despite this, he has not officially endorsed Donald Trump, Biden’s rival. At a DealBook summit in November, Musk remarked, “I think I would not vote for Biden,” while refraining from explicitly stating his support for Trump.

Recent reports from the New York Times indicated a meeting between Trump and Musk in Florida, where the former president sought substantial financial support for his reelection campaign. Musk confirmed the meeting but clarified that he is not contributing financially to Trump’s campaign at this time.

“I was at a breakfast at a friend’s place and Donald Trump came by, that’s it,” he told former CNN host Don Lemon last week, adding that Trump had not requested any financial assistance.

“I’m not paying his legal bills in any way, shape or form. And he did not ask me for money,” Musk said.

Elon Musk’s recent statements on the upcoming 2024 presidential election reveal a notable political U-turn. Despite his previous support for Democrats, he now emphasizes the need for a “red wave” and has criticized President Biden’s administration, signaling a potentially significant change in his political inclinations.
