It is result day in Canada and the election results have sent shockwaves across the nation. The stuttering Liberal Party that had been counted out a few months back have won the elections under Mark Carney. On top of it the Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has lost his own seat, and thats not all the pro Khalistan NDP leader Jagmeet Singh too has lost his seat as the Candian elections results stream in.
A Stunning Comeback for the Liberals
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has staged a stunning comeback to win the federal election, securing 168 seats — four short of a majority in the 343-member Parliament. The final tally could change, as Elections Canada paused counting special ballots expected to impact about a dozen districts. Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party has so far won 140 seats and leads in 4 more. The Bloc Québécois, led by Yves-François Blanchet, has won 22 seats and leads in one. Jagmeet Singh’s New Democratic Party (NDP) have taken four seats and are ahead in three others. The Green Party has won one seat.
Mark Carney, a former central banker and political newcomer, delivered a powerful victory speech in Ottawa as he called for national unity and declared that the long-standing, mutually beneficial relationship between Canada and the United States had effectively ended. Carney in all effect outlined his policies that signal Ottawa’s swerve awat from Trump and USA.
“We are over the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons,” Carney said.
“America wants our land, our resources, our water, our country. These are not idle threats. President Trump is trying to break us so America can own us. That will never… ever happen. But we also must recognize the reality that our world has fundamentally changed.”
Political Shake-Up: Singh Steps Down
In another major shock NDP leader and Pro-Khalistani Jagmeet Singh—lost his seat in Burnaby Central. Following his defeat, Singh announced he will step down from party leadership once an interim leader is appointed. His absence from Parliament is expected to be seen positively for Canadian politics as he had been promoting radical extremists rather openly, mainstreaming Khalistan terror elements in Canadian politics.
According to the CBC data, Jagmeet Singh only managed to garner 9,104 votes (18.1 per cent) in Burnaby Central, lagging behind Wade Chang (42.1 per cent) by over 12,000 votes and behind Conservative candidate James Yan (38.7 per cent) by 10,332 votes.
Moreover, Jagmeet’s NDP party is also staring at losing its national party status — parties in Canada need 12 seats to officially quality for party status in the House of Commons and the NDP is falling short. This is a grand fall for a party that had 24 seats before and had been accused of back seat driving its agendas during the rule of the Justin Trudeau led Liberal party.
Jagmeet Singh along with Trudeau had managed to thoroughly damage Canada’s foreign policy and international reputation. They had also been at complete odds with the worlds largest democracy, India. Now with their presence diluted it may give the Liberals an opportunity to refresh their approach.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Carney on his victory and emphasized the shared democratic values and close people-to-people ties between India and Canada. Notably, Carney has identified rebuilding relations with India as a key foreign policy goal.
“What Canada will be looking to do is to diversify our trading relationships with like-minded countries… and there are opportunities to rebuild the relationship with India,” Carney said during his campaign.
This signals a significant shift from the Trudeau era, during which bilateral ties were severely strained due to Trudeau’s foolishness.
New Front in the Canada-US Trade War
Carney’s victory also sets the stage for a potential economic showdown with the United States. He campaigned strongly against Trump’s threats of annexation and protectionist trade measures, turning fear into fuel for his campaign. This is the fourth consecutive loss for Canada’s Conservatives and a sign that Canadians rallied behind a leader who promised to stand firm against the US. After winning the election his first statements are on the US where he stressed that the US betrayal has set the tone for their relations in upcoming years.

Growing Cooperation with Europe and China
Canada is expected to deepen its engagement with the European Union, with whom it shares concerns over the Trump administration’s unpredictability. This convergence of interests could lead to expanded trade and diplomatic cooperation.
Meanwhile, China is also looking to strengthen ties with Canada in light of the election results. Beijing expressed willingness to build a relationship based on “mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.” For China, having a friendly government in the US’s neighborhood could offer a strategic advantage.
Mark Carney’s federal election victory comes at a defining moment for Canada. Canadians have chosen a leader who promises to protect national sovereignty, rebuild crucial international relationships—and chart a more independent global course. It is indeed remarkable as a few months back the Liberals were reeling, falling like a stone in the polls, but the emergence of Mark Carney and the aggressive posturing from Trump turned it around for the Liberals.
Trump’s 51st state rhetoric spooked the nation as the Conservatives continued to lose support so much so that now Carney emerges as one of the few big leaders. He is now entrusted by the Canadian public as the best hope to manage the US President. Meanwhile Poilievre will be cursing his fortunes, an almost certain victory blown up in a matter of weeks. And Jagmeet Singh the man who fancied himself a kingmaker will now be left in the lurch reduced to almost nothing. All said and done the Canadian public for better or worse have given a decisive verdict one that will decide the long term future of the nation.
