Dear Priyanka Chopra – Neither you know Trump, nor America

Priyanka Chopra

The ruckus of the Intolerance Debate provided a glorious insight into the mind set of Bollywood celebrities. It has revealed how difficult it is for our superstars to admit they are not aware of a particular series of events and how they are not the best people to comment on the particular issue. As the whole facade of the Intolerance Debate came crumbling down, our celebrities were left gasping for respite from the endless barrage of criticism and ridicule. However, it seems they haven’t learnt anything from the tragedy and are still basking in the glory of their own ignorance. The latest person to engage herself unnecessarily in an issue that in no way concerns her is Priyanka Chopra .

But luckily for Priyanka Chopra, she would escape without much payback as she made the comment about Donald Trump and she is as irrelevant in America as the cheerleaders during IPL matches.

When asked about Trump’s proposed temporary ban on Muslim Immigrants from the Middle East, dearest Piggy Chops described the plan as ‘Primitive.’ Well, what qualifications does she have to comment on the Policies proposed by the leading Republican presidential candidate? And no, having acted in Quantico cannot be regarded as appropriate qualifications.

Priyanka Chopra said, “You cannot put a ban on anyone.” Well, does she mean a country cannot decide which people it allows to enter its territory? Does she mean it’s ‘Primitive’ for a nation to put the interests of its own citizens above that of Third World Migrants? And maybe Piggy Chops is not aware, the FBI has said there’s no way they could guarantee that there weren’t Terrorists and ISIS sympathisers among the people they take in. If refusing to put your countrymen at risk by taking in migrants from the Middle East is primitive, then perhaps being Primitive is not such a bad thing after all.

The hot and happening Bollywood superstar said the issue was so complex that “you can’t put a face on it anymore.” Well, she is only half correct and half utterly deluded. While it is true that people of various nationalities and races are joining ISIS, it is also a fact the group is essentially comprised of people of warring Middle East zones and others are in the minority. Also, there’s not a single fighter in the ISIS who doesn’t call himself Muslim, doesn’t it explain the temporary Muslim ban entirely?

And although I am a Donald Trump supporter and it’s because he promises to be the best candidate for India, my criticism of Priyanka Chopra has very little to do with it. My main objection is the American people accepted her with open arms and rewarded her with great hospitality. And as a guest, she should have reciprocated the gesture by politely refusing to entangle herself with the Politics of the country when the General Elections are looming large on the horizon. It was as impolite as it was rude to comment unfavorably about such a prominent figure recognising the gravity of the issue and the context of the situation.

Not really surprising it is that Priyanka Chopra made the comments on Donald Trump at the TIME 100 gala on Tuesday night in New York. I might be wrong but I increasingly get the impression it’s the American equivalent of our lit fests where Liberals further their dubious agenda through the shameful use of propaganda guised as honest opinions. I do not blame Priyanka here, I genuinely believe her intentions were sincere and honest. The only person whose intentions I do doubt is the one who decided Priyanka Chopra had adequate knowledge of the Socio-political climate of America to make an informed comment on the issue.

The celebrities must be smarter than allowing journalists and propagandists to milk their status of a celebrity to further their own political agenda. I was saddened by the fact that arguably the best actress in Bollywood at the moment and my personal favorite was used by propagandists for juicy tidbits and their own shrewd purpose. Priyanka on her part could have easily refused to comment on the issue, which she should have done out of mere courtesy towards the citizens of the United States, and ducked the question. However, she ended up becoming just another tool whose fame was for the propagandists to harness. And I guess by this time, it’s quite obvious that the propagandists knew exactly what Priyanka Chopra’s answer was going to be beforehand and she was manipulated into helping their cause. Pretty much how Shahrukh Khan was manipulated by the Intolerance Brigade into furthering her agenda against the NDA government.

Priyanka Chopra is totally ignorant about the Socio-political climate of the United States of America and her ignorance and fame was beautifully tapped into by the propagandists. Perhaps Priyanka Chopra does not realize that at this point a comment against Trump directly amounts to support for Hillary Clinton. Perhaps she is not aware how Hillary Clinton was responsible for the deaths of Americans in Benghazi, perhaps she isn’t aware how Hillary Clinton might have to undergo trial in the near future. Unwittingly and not even realizing it, the Queen of Bollywood has become part of the ‪#‎NeverTrump brigade.

My problem is not with Priyanka Chopra voicing her opinion in public. My problem is that Priyanka Chopra made an uninformed judgment about Donald Trump and getting herself embroiled in American Politics without fully understanding the various dynamics of the issue at hand. My problem is with propagandists trying to project superstars as Intellectuals to suit their purpose. My problem is with Priyanka Chopra commenting on an issue that does not immediately concern her and allowing her fame to be used by people who may not have the best intentions for the people of America at large. And common decency mandates that we do not enjoy the hospitality of our hosts and then go on to meddle in their personal affairs even though there’s a section of the population that wants us to further their agenda as it will be unfair to the rest of the population. Really, is it too difficult to respond with, “I am not the best person to comment on the issue, I am sure there are other people present here who are better equipped to answer the question”?
