WION cancels invitation to Musharraf and other Pak speakers from its Global Summit in Dubai

WION, Pakistani Speakers, Dubai

In the aftermath of the terror attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, WION, an international news channel of Essel group that owns Zee Media, is withdrawing its invitation to Pakistani speakers. The Pakistani speakers were invited to participate in Global Summit: South Asia Edition, which is scheduled to take place in Dubai on February 20.

Speaking about the cancellation of the invitation to the Pakistani speakers, WION media stated, “We believe this heinous attack has vitiated the atmosphere and any deliberation on collective prosperity with Pakistan is untenable.” According to reports, Fawad Chaudhry, Minister of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, former President and Army Chief of Pakistan, Abdul Basit, former High Commissioner of Pakistan to India and Salman Bashir, former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan were the representatives of Pakistan in WION Global Summit in Dubai.

In its statement on the Dubai event, the media house also added, “WION remains committed to presenting India’s perspective to the world, and that includes taking a stand against entities and individuals trying to hurt India. We salute the martyrs of Pulwama. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their families.”

Earlier, PM Modi had said that he vows to make terrorists ‘pay heavy price’ for the heinous act. The Prime Minister also added that defense forces have been given a free hand to act and give a befitting reply to the perpetrators of the Pulwama attack. India has now been further emboldened to go hammer and tongs after Pakistan as the international community has come out in India’s support following the Pulwama incident.

US ambassador to India, Kenneth Juster, said that the US strongly condemns terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir and went on to add that the US stands alongside India in confronting terror and defeating it.

On the same note, The Embassy of Russian Federation also came out strongly in support of India as it stated, “We denounce terrorism in all its forms & reiterate the need to combat these inhuman acts with a decisive and collective response without any double standards. We express condolences to families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Not only the international community but media houses too are aware of the fact that India is facing the menace of terrorism generated on Pakistani soil. With the Indian case being so strong, it is now up to the Indian government to show the terrorist nation its place and launch a massive assault on its terror factories.
