Pakistani politician and the founder of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has claimed that Pakistan’s military and the intelligence service ISI may be behind the planning and plotting of Colombo blasts. 8 serial blasts on the Easter Sunday shook Sri Lanka and recorded a death toll of more than 290 people while more than 450 were injured.

The MQM press released read, “Hussain appealed the UN Secretary-General and all democratic countries that they should never ignore the possibility of involvement of Pakistan military and ISI in this horrific Colombo blasts at the Churches and hotels as almost every single incident of terrorism globally had its foundation originating from Pakistan.”

Altaf Hussain, who lives in exile, has condemned the terror attack and said that he stands in solidarity and is severely saddened at the loss of precious lives. He also mentioned that extremism has become a universal menace and needs to be completely eradicated from the world. He urged everyone to stand united against terrorism and also those who spread violence around the world. The necessity of completely eliminating the patrons of extremism should be understood by major players of global politics. He said that the world should stand together against one agenda of rooting out any kind of violence against humanity.

Pakistan has been pressurised by international organisations and countries around the world to eliminate terrorism from its soil. India has for numerous times given dossiers to Pakistan, yet little action has been taken against the terror outfits that continue to flourish under the very nose of the Pak establishment. The government seems to be dormant in taking any action. Pakistan has, till now, refrained from taking action against terror groups that operate on its soil, despite being repeatedly asked to do.

India, Iran and even Afghanistan have continuously asked Pakistan to take action against terror groups. Iran had slammed Pakistan as it faced an attack by the Pakistani terror groups on its Revolutionary Guards. The claim made by Altaf Hussain cannot be ignored. It is true that in the past terror groups have had associations and links in Pakistan and it poses as a major challenge for neighbouring countries like India.
