China tries to placate Japan, this time by flirting with Japanese youth but it’s poised to get its heart broken

China has become isolated in global affairs, its economy barely hanging in there, the world’s biggest militaries knocking its front door and its image down the drain after the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, China seems to be transfixed in a limbo.

Its delusions of attaining the tag of the world’s foremost superpower are done for. Its diplomatic belligerence has turned countries that had the potential of being its biggest ally. But as the Chinese Shadow puppet theatre came crashing down and reduced to a pulpit, it is now making hollow efforts to claim the support of the citizens in the countries it has angered, if not the governments.

According to a recent article published in the Chinese propaganda tool disguised as a news outlet called ‘Global Times’, the older people of Japan are the ones who hate China otherwise the young and savvy generation of Japan practically loves China and what not. This foolish article cites a so called Japanese director called Ryo Takeuchi who claims to be living in the Chinese city of Nanjing.

He has made a very convincing and clearly CCP sponsored documentary that lauds the Chinese authorities and criticises the Japanese government. An interesting point that should be noted is that this ‘director’ has no previous record of making movies or even a homemade cat video. Yet the Chinese government and its mouthpieces like Global times, Xinhua, CGTN, and others do not seem to get enough of him.

The article aims to direct the reason for the ongoing contention between Japan and China towards Japan’s nationalist government and older population which built Japan by their blood, sweat, and tears. They intentionally tend to forget that the disturbances in relations are entirely because of Xi Jinping’s unintelligent and erratic behaviour.

It is only because of CCP’s overconfidence in challenging the peace and harmony of the world that its relations with the majority of the countries of the world are in a poor state. The Chinese state propaganda calls the older Japanese population ‘jealous’ who are unable to digest the ‘rise’ of China. These uncivilised and distasteful statements can only come out of the Chinese state propaganda institutions which disrespect the idea of freedom of choosing the rulers and having the freedom of thoughts and expression.

By using the article as a propaganda tool, the Chinese government wants to come out with clean hands and get away with its foolish and unprovoked aggression across the globe. China, which owes an apology to Japan for ruining its preparations for the Summer Olympics, wants to get a free out of jail card by putting Japan’s elderly in question.

Chinese educational centres across the world, which have been reportedly used for spying activities and spreading propaganda are called Confucius Institutes. Confucius, the famed Chinese thinker who gave the idea of Confucianism teaches ‘filial piety’ which directs people to honour and respect the elders, but the Chinese efforts to defame the Japanese elders are quite against what Confucius taught.

Naturally, China calls the Japanese youth progressive who are eager to embrace China as they use Chinese made apps and video games. But these disillusioned Chinese government employees who call themselves journalists forget how much the Japanese youth adores democracy. They forget that young Japanese citizens have been at the forefront of supporting democracy movements in Hongkong.

The 23-year-old Hongkong democracy activist Agnes Chow  has a huge fan base in Japan. She is often termed as the ‘Goddess of Democracy’ in the Japanese media and when she got arrested last year many young Japanese netizens raised their voices online in her support and hashtags like ‘#freeagnes quickly went viral.

Many young and famous Japanese personalities like actress Sayaka Akimoto, sportswriter Hirotada Ototake were among the many who hailed her and condemned her arrest. Along with Chow, other democracy activists like Ivan Lam and Joshua Wong have a huge following in Japanese youth.

Japanese young populace has also been quite vocal in supporting the ‘Milk tea Alliance’, which is an informal online collective of citizens from Taiwan, Thailand, India, and Hong Kong who raise voices against Chinese propaganda and aggression. Taiwanese people find themselves emotionally being very close to the Japanese and both countries share a distrust of anything related to China.

Therefore, it is quite clear that China’s false hope that Japanese youth favours China is just a myth that exists only in the minds of Chinese ‘journalists.’ The responsible young generation of Japan is smart, pro-democracy and can see the effects of baseless Chinese bullying and aggression in every part of the world
