After turning Russia-Ukraine border into a warzone, Biden brings Korean Peninsula at the brink of a big war

The warmonger in US President Joe Biden is creating theatres of war all across the world. First, the Biden administration pushed Ukraine into aggression against Moscow and sent tensions soaring along the Russia-Ukraine border. And now, Biden’s disastrous policies are causing another conflict. This time in the Korean Peninsula.

As per the latest NYT report, a quiet arms race is building up between  Pyongyang and Seoul. And we cannot help but blame the Biden administration for creating this crisis by refusing to continue Donald Trump’s policy to engage North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un in a serious dialogue. Also, the Biden administration’s attempts to give China a central role in the North Korea negotiations have aggravated the Korean crisis.

As per NYT, South Korea exhibited military muscle by unveiling its own supersonic fighter jet KF-21, which has been developed at a cost of $7.8 billion. Recently, Seoul also disclosed plans to acquire dozens of new American combat helicopters.

On the other hand, Pyongyang keeps showing its nuclear power. While South Korea lacks nuclear weapons, it is augmenting its strength in conventional weapons by procuring American stealth jets and building powerful conventional missiles that can target North Korean missile facilities and bunkers.

North Korea itself has followed a new strategy. It has been using South Korea’s militarisation as an excuse to arm its own short-range missiles with nuclear warheads, apart from focusing on greater stealth and making its missiles less interceptable.

Jang Cheol-wun, an analyst at the Korea Institute for National Unification, a government-funded research group said, “As both sides act and react through arms buildups in the name of national defense, it will create a vicious cycle that will eventually undermine their defense and deepen their security dilemma.”

But what explains the sudden uptick in aggression within the Korean Peninsula? To be precise, the fault lies in the Biden administration. Following Biden’s victory in Presidential polls last year, South Korea started warning him about the risks of abandoning Trump’s policy.

Donald Trump was the first US President to have met a North Korean leader. Biden, on the other hand, declared during his campaign trail that he would not meet Kim Jong-un without preconditions and even accused Trump of emboldening the North Korean leader. Biden, therefore, had an express agenda of derailing Trump’s Korea initiative.

Trump’s policies had helped bridge the gap between North and South Korea. The two hostile sides were ready to seek a practical solution, and this is why Seoul wanted continuity in the American policy.

Despite Seoul’s repeated warnings, Biden actually abandoned American leadership and initiative in the Korean Peninsula. In fact, the Biden administration compelled South Korean President Moon Jae-in to land in China’s lap and seek help for taking the denuclearisation dialogue with Pyongyang forward.

In fact, Biden gifted the entire Korean Peninsula to Beijing. The US Secretary of State went as far as asking China to use its “tremendous influence” and convince North Korea to abandon its nuclear program. Yes, Blinken wants China to push Pyongyang towards denuclearisation. This is more like asking a hungry cat to protect a rodent.

China itself likes using North Korea as a Client State. It uses North Korea’s nuclear firepower to blackmail Japan, South Korea and the West. So, Biden’s idea to get China involved in the Korean Peninsula was bound to flare up tensions in the region. Biden’s policies have therefore instigated a major arms race in the Korean Peninsula, and the region has been brought to the brink of a catastrophic war.
