Banned users on Chinese social media are reincarnating to give Xi Jinping sleepless nights

Forget plummeting economy and the loss of cachet worldwide; the threat emanating from within is the gravest of all for the CCP—rising outrage among the masses.

Hardly any section of the Chinese society is contented with the way the CCP is steering their nation. Leisure is declared iniquitous under Xi Jinping’s rule. The people are being asked to embrace hardships and struggles. However, the CCP is now gearing up for more stringent crackdown measures. As per a report published in Vice.com, the CCP has now asked the social media platforms to block the banned users from ‘reincarnation’. This is in line with the CCP’s increased efforts to monitor the web for “anti-national” content and encourage self-censorship among the Chinese people.

China’s diktat of permanently banning the resenting Chinese from web

Social media companies in China are now required to step up monitoring of the already-blocked accounts and prevent them from getting reborn. The users in China are required to register their social media accounts with real identity; however, they often resort to devise various deluding measures after their accounts get shut down by the authorities.

However, it is still unclear how the new directive will get enforced by social media websites. People often trick social media platforms by registering using different E-mail ids and contact details. Hence, blocking people permanently from the online web will be a tedious task for Chinese micro-blogging websites.

Jinping’s rising anxiety ahead of 2022 congress

The rigorous censorship measures speak volumes of Jinping’s booming anxiety ahead of the CCP’s 20th national congress in 2022. Jinping has his eyes firmly set on a third term. He does not want the outraged public to stymie his exponential ambitions. The ongoing crackdown on China’s tech sector, EduTech sector and celebrity culture is also an outcome of Jinping’s rising anxiety.

The insecurity of Chinese President Xi Jinping stems from the realisation that his regime is heavily hated, and he is himself seen as an oppressive leader who wants to remain in power for as long as he is alive. As reported by TFI, Xi Jinping has set out on yet another purge spree, and he is targeting the low rung CCP officials and workers now. In such an atmosphere of his reign getting challenged at every step of the way, it would simply be suicidal for Xi Jinping to let people freely express their anger on the Chinese web.

The move could very well backfire

The Chinese economy is in tatters, and the people are losing their jobs. Foreign companies and investors are fleeing China en masse. This has stoked anger in the Chinese public in incredible proportions running the risk of emboldening Jinping’s rival factions in the party. Owing to his fragile sway over the party, Jinping even fears stepping out of his country given that would provide his rivals a fortune moment to attempt for a coup in his absence.

Needless to say, Chinese society is seething against the CCP’s tyrannical rule. Now, as the authorities rush to suppress their voices in the online world, this could very well force angered Chinese to storm the streets and take up the matter in their hands. The recent directive of permanently blocking the resenting Chinese from the online world further denotes CCP’s rising anxiety. The CCP has finally realized that its days are numbered.
