Dayvon Daquan Bennett, better known by his stage name King Von or V Roy, was an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois, who lived from August 9, 1994 to November 6, 2020. Only the Family, Lil Durk’s record label, and Empire Distribution signed him.

Bennett and his group were involved in an incident with Quando Rondo’s gang outside of the Monaco hookah lounge in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 6, 2020, at around 2:15 a.m. Bennett was shot many times during the altercation, which swiftly escalated into gunfire.

He was then airlifted to a hospital in critical condition, where he died later that day at the age of 26. Two people were slain, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Six people were injured, with one of them being arrested for the murder of V Roy while receiving treatment for a gunshot wound. Timothy Leeks, also known as Lul Timm, a rapper, was identified as the suspect.

His Legacy

Bennett was honored during the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards’ In Memoriam montage. In August 2021, artist Chris Devins painted a mural of V Roy in Parkway Gardens, Chicago (where V Roy was from).

It was intended to be a memorial to the late rapper. The artwork, however, sparked debate among Chicago locals, with some claiming that it would draw gang-related crime to the region and that it glorified gang brutality. The mural was suggested to be removed or moved to a different location.
