Katie Swan Biography and Career

Katie Swan is a British tennis player who was born on March 24, 1999. Swan was born in the city of Bristol to Nicki and Richard. She began tennis lessons when she was seven years old while on vacation in Portugal. Junior Career

Katie Swan won her first international tournament, the famed Smrikve Bowl event for 10-year-olds, in Croatia in 2009, and went on to win an Under 10s international title the following year.

Swan was part of the four-strong GB squad that won the Maureen Connolly Challenge Trophy, an annual Under-18s match against the USA, in 2014. Swan was coached by Judy Murray.

Swan overcame Dalma Gálfi after facing three set chances to reach her first junior Grand Slam final at the Australian Open on January 30, 2015, where she lost to Tereza Mihalikova 1–6, 4–6.

Senior Career

Katie Swan won her first senior tour tournament in March, just before her 16th birthday, when she came through the qualifying draw to win a $10,000 tournament in Sharm El Sheikh. She defeated seventh seed Julia Terziyska 6–2, 6–2 in the final after defeating two seeded in the preliminary rounds.

Katie Swan was selected for her Great Britain Fed Cup debut against South Africa in Group 1 of the Euro/Africa Zone. Swan overcame Anne Keothavong by 270 days to become the youngest British player in Fed Cup history at the age of 16 years and 316 days.

Swan made a comeback at the Soho Square Egypt Women’s Future in Sharm El Sheikh after reoccurring injuries in late 2016 and early 2017.

Swan joined Andy Murray’s “77 Sports Management” at the start of the year, with Murray stating, “Katie is a player I’ve been watching for a while.”

She qualified for the Australian Open for the first time, although she was eliminated by Bianca Andreescu. She advanced to the last round of qualification for the French Open later that year, but lost 4-6, 5-7 against Kristna Kuová.

Her ranking had plummeted to 267th by the conclusion of the year.

In the final match, she defeated Arina Rodionova 6-0, 6-4 to qualify for Wimbledon. She was defeated by Madison Keys, the 23rd seed, in the first round of the main draw.

Short biography of Katie Swan

Katie Swan was the head girl at The Downs School in Bristol and an avid hockey player who represented Avon and her school in the under-13 national finals. Her family moved to Wichita, Kansas (US) in 2013 due to her father’s job in the oil sector, and she briefly attended Bristol Grammar School.

Swan was one of the few junior players on the competitive circuit who maintained her education at Wichita Collegiate School, however, she began taking online classes in August 2015.

Swan has been based in Wichita since 2013.
