Military action against Iran seems to be a possibility in the near future. Iran’s nuclear program has been worrying powers all across the globe. The Iran nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is a landmark accord reached between Iran and several world powers called the P5+1 (the US, Britain, France, Russia, China, and Germany) in July 2015.
Former President Donald Trump pulled the US out of JCPOA in 2018 over the concerns of the terms of the deal being too favourable for Iran. As a result, Trump reimposed the sanctions on Iran barring it from profiting from its oil trade. However, the United States’ exit does not make the deal null and void because of the presence of other powers which could choose to go ahead with the deal. Israel has been a staunch critic of Iran and advocates against Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s leaders’ objective to dissolve the Jewish state has mobilized Israel to counter Iran on all international and domestic issues.
Iran risking it all
The Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei has been responsible for Iran’s tense relations with its neighbours. The country has been the subject of several sanctions and has not been able to achieve economic prosperity as a result of the sanctions. Unlike Saudi Arabia, Iran’s tense relations with the US have diminished its status as a major oil exporter. The concentration of different cultural ethnicities and other geographical factors has worsened relations between Riyadh and Tehran over time.
Iran’s nuclear program has further distanced Tehran from its neighbours and has led to increasing instability in the middle east. Israel’s strong opposition to Iran’s nuclear program has given Biden a renewed chance to enter the JCPOA once again. Biden claims to even use force as a last resort if Iran does not drop the idea of advancement of its nuclear program.

Asked if the US would use force to stop Iran’s nuclear program, Biden replied “as a last resort, yes.”
“Iran cannot get a nuclear weapon,” he said.
Biden is masking the threat behind the issue of Isreal’s stability in case of the development of a nuclear bomb by Iran. The political stability of Israel is of the utmost for Washington’s future in the middle east. However, Biden seems to have different intentions from his decision to use force on Iran.
Biden restricts peace in the Middle East.
The significance of the Abraham Accords, a joint statement between the State of Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States reached on August 13, 2020, is of utmost importance for Biden to further his plans for the middle east. The deal signifies normalization between previous rivals UAE and Israel.

Iran and Saudi Arabia resumed official talks in Baghdad in April this year, despite the ongoing political deadlock in Iraq and Riyadh’s crackdown on Shiite opposition. Saudi Arabia is a major US ally and Washington would hate to see it mingle with its rival Iran. Biden is expected to use the Abraham Accords to restrict Saudi Arabia to continue peace talks with Iran.
The development of Iran’s nuclear program is a threat to Israel which would further trigger the US to mobilize Israel to exert force against Iran. The prospect of war between Israel and Iran would force Saudi Arabia to give up its peace talks with Iran further appeasing the US.
