He made his international debut in the match which was played against the West Indies at Multan stadium. On 23 November 1990 he made his Test debut against West Indies. 10 November 1990 he made his ODI debut again against West Indies.
In Test cricket career he took over 100 catches. In his ODI cricket career he has scored over 3,000 runs and taken more than 200 catches.
As the chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, he was selected in place of Iqbal Qasim in July 2013. On 11 February 2014 Moin was appointed as the head coach of the national cricket team. In the year 2007, he coached the Hyderabad Heroes after he signed with the unofficial Indian Cricket League.
