Baleshwar Temple is an ancient temple which is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva. Which has been constructed by carving stones of Gods and Goddesses. Which is a wonderful symbol of craftsmanship. Two other temples are also present in the temple complex. In which one temple is dedicated to Ratneshwar and the other to Champavati Durga. More than half a dozen Shivlings are established in the entire temple group. The main Shivling is of crystal.
Baleshwar temple located in Champawat district of Uttarakhand state is situated at a distance of about 75 kilometers from Tanakpur. There is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva situated at an altitude of 16070 meters above sea level. The distance of Baleshwar Mandir from Champawat bus station is about 100 meters. Baleshwar is spread over about 200 square meters. 10 to 15 small temples have been constructed in the Baleshwar Mandir and out of these there are two main temples, one dedicated to Rakteshwar and the other dedicated to Champavati-Durga.
History of baleshwar temple
The Baleshwar temple of Champawat, dedicated to Lord Shiva, was built by the Chandra-dynasty kings in the middle of the 12th century. Different types of idols have been engraved on the walls of Baleshwar Mandir and deities and human postures etc. Have been depicted. There are 6-7 Shivling in this temple group, the main Shivling is of Sputik.

To reach Baleshwar Temple Champawat you have to reach Champawat, you can reach Champawat via Tanakpur.
Coming by rail then the nearest railway station is Tanakpur. From Tanakpur you can reach Champawat by road, by government bus, taxi or by your own vehicle.
By Air The nearest airport is located at Pantnagar, which is about 167 kms from Champawat. You can travel from Pantnagar by bus, taxi or private vehicle.
