One more Caribbean nation has come out to support Cuba. This brave nation is Belize. On 12th February, Belizean Prime Minister John Briceno condemned the Biden Administration for designating Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism. The Prime Minister also called on the Biden administration to remove Cuba from the list of state sponsored terrorists. Briceno called the designation unjustified, immoral and illegal.
He said, “Belize also condemns the unjustified designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism to which there is no legal or moral justification for Cuba to remain.”
Ouch. That must’ve hurt, USA
He made the call during a special sitting of Parliament held on Sunday, Briceno received the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, who was making his first official visit to Belize.
Since diplomatic relations were established on July 15, 1995, between the two nations, no Cuban president had visited Belize until this current visit, which made this visit more significant.

Cuba- Belize: Hand in Hand
Not only this, Briceno showered Cuba and Cuban President in praises. He noted that over 100,000 Cubans have provided services to Belize and many sectors including education, construction, sports, and culture have improved due to their relationship.
He said Belize commends Cuba’s steadfast commitment to provide immediate relief in times of emergency and longer-term capacity building to developed and developing countries.

“We note that these actions take place in the face of an unjust, illegal, financial, commercial and trade embargo imposed by the United States,” Prime Minister stated.
These developments are the sign that all efforts of the USA of debt-trapping Belize, sending a terrorist to the nation and controlling its marine resources, have backfired. With Belize taking this bold-step, we can assume that a Cuba-Belize alliance is in making which will be a step forward in taking US out of the region.
