Chrystia Freeland: A rush of intelligence files that were leaked has renewed claims that China meddled in Canada’s most recent federal election, sparking a heated debate about potential countermeasures.

Nevertheless, as the nation’s spy agency struggles to address growing public disquiet, experts warn that the leaks also run the risk of damaging Canada’s reputation among its friends.

Chrystia Freeland, who served as foreign affairs minister during the alleged interference, has been noticeably silent throughout this whole ordeal. This has led to questions about why she has not come out and spoken about the issue.

The China scandal involving Justin Trudeau and his government has been a major focus of media attention lately.

Amidst all this, Chrystia Freeland, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs while the alleged interference was occurring, has been conspicuously silent. This has led to questions about why she has not come out and spoken on the issue.

Members of an independent panel appointed to evaluate potential dangers to elections recently advised MPs that Canada’s capacity to run a free and fair election in 2021 is not under danger.

Yet, concerns over China’s conduct in Canada have increased recently in response to claims that unofficial “police stations” are operating in important cities.

Prior to the announcement by the prime minister, the leader of the Conservative Party, Pierre Poilievre, argued that the most recent allegations of Chinese attempts to rig federal elections required an outside review and predicted that Trudeau would simply try to “sweep this under the rug” and keep the investigation confidential.

So, is Chrystia Freeland hiding something related to the scandal? Is she trying to protect Trudeau and the government? It seems that she has something to hide, and until she comes out and speaks, the public will remain suspicious.

Silence of Chrystia Freeland only heightens the level of speculation, and it could end up hurting the Liberal Party in the long run.
