They claimed that the final stop was in Tehran at a technology firm that was subject to U.S. sanctions for supplying Iran’s infamous Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Authorities in Canada refused to confirm whether the United States had asked for Fakih’s extradition.

Fakih is still wanted, according to Patty Hartman, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, for allegedly circumventing sanctions placed in place to restrict Iran and its Revolutionary Guard.
Fakih claimed he had been told not to comment during a phone call. He refused to go into detail but stated that he opposed the Iranian government and that there would be new facts concerning the case.
Despite his brother being “engaged in a legal matter” in the United States, he claimed in an email to immigration officials that he had not “received any court records indicating that I am personally being charged or involved in any criminal conduct pertaining to the case.”
The U.S. Justice Department filed an indictment against Bader Altaf Fakih, a 43-year-old Toronto business consultant, for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy. So, has Canada decided to go away from US’ foreign policy?
