Macron’s Sweet Revenge Plan in Indo-Pacific Leaves Biden Dumbstruck

France, known for its passionate affair with the Indo-Pacific, had long been strategizing its role in the region. Recognizing the profound transformations brought about by China’s rise, the Sino-American competition, and the region’s economic dominance, Macron in 2018 had aimed to position France as a stabilizing power and a promoter of effective multilateralism.

But fate had other plans. Australia, like a mischievous cupid, swept Macron off his feet and left him heartbroken. The AUKUS security pact, a trilateral partnership between the US, UK, and Australia, shattered France’s dreams of expanding its clout in the Indo-Pacific.

Also, it was a nuclear blow to France, as Australia canceled its contract with the French, resulting in lost investments and job opportunities.

France felt betrayed, viewing the AUKUS deal as a cunning move by the Biden administration to diminish France’s rising influence in the region. But Macron, with his Gallic flair, refused to back down. Instead, he devised a daring plan to seek revenge and regain his footing in the Indo-Pacific.

The Plan B for Indo-Pacific

Enter India, France’s old comrade in arms. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Macron’s honored guest, arrived in France to deepen ties with its oldest strategic partner in the West. With a flurry of defense deals on the horizon and a joint plan for Indo-Pacific stability, Macron was ready to turn the tables.

Narendra Modi, the main protagonist of Macron’s grand scheme, is set to be shown to a spectacular display of Franco-Indian camaraderie during the Bastille Day celebrations. Indian military units, including the prestigious Rafale fighter jets purchased from France, are going to proudly parade through the streets of Paris.

But Macron has more up his sleeve than a dazzling parade. He is set to present India with an unprecedented offering, a tantalizing array of submarines and jets that would make any defense enthusiast weak at the knees.

France’s Offerings

Three more Scorpene submarines were on the menu, alongside a potential purchase of 26 Rafale jets. The stage was set for an Indo-French alliance that would shake the Indo-Pacific to its core.

During his visit, Modi would be treated to private dinners, lavish banquets, and high-profile meetings with political leaders, French personalities, and business tycoons. Macron was pulling out all the stops to ensure India’s devotion to their decade old partnership.

The underlying motivation for this alliance was not lost on anyone. Both India and France, through their island territories, have deep interests in the Indian Ocean and shared concerns about China’s growing assertiveness.

Macron, having been snubbed once before, was determined to enter the region with renewed devotion and emotion, with India by his side.

As Macron’s revenge plan unfolds, Biden could only watch in dumbstruck silence. The French president has outmaneuvered him, forging an alliance that is set to challenge America’s dominance in the Indo-Pacific. The stage is set for a gripping geopolitical showdown, with Macron and Modi as the formidable duo. Oh yes, and not to mention, Macron is also having kinships with Russia.

This needs to be seen whether Macron’s grand revenge plan will succeed or if Biden can summon a plot twist of his own. One thing is certain: the Indo-Pacific region will never be the same again, and Macron’s audacious move has left the world on the edge of its seat. The drama unfolds, and the world waits with bated breath for the next act in this Indo-Pacific saga.
