Darkest Christmas in Canada ever!!

This holiday season, Canadians are enduring an unprecedented struggle, and it’s not just about hanging stockings and trimming trees. The reality? Toronto’s food banks, a symbol of the country’s hardship, are now being used as political ad boards. Bags promoting MPs from the Liberal party are being handed out like free candy at these food banks.

Almost every day of the week, hundreds of people wait hours in lineups that span an entire city block to collect food at Toronto’s Fort York Food Bank.

A recent video showing the daily lineups went viral online, but the food bank’s operator tells CityNews she is not surprised by it.

“Unless you live in this neighbourhood and run by and see our lines like this, it is shocking to see what poverty looks like in our city,” said Executive Director Julie Lejeune.

The sight of endless queues at food banks paints a grim picture, overshadowing any Christmas cheer for struggling Canadians. But where’s the cavalry? Ah, the Liberals. Are they stepping up? Well, it appears they are, in their own peculiar way—using the misery of Canadians as a backdrop for party promotion.

Picture this: Toronto’s food banks are dishing out grocery bags decked with branding for a Liberal MP. A perplexing move, don’t you think? There’s something seriously off about this picture.

And guess what? These are the same folks who, let’s be real, played a fair role in creating this mess in the first place. Clown move, indeed.

But the absurdity doesn’t stop there. Liberal minister, Anita Anand, thought it’d be grand to pose in front of a food bank sign, smiling like she’s at a photo op.

After considerable flack Anita Anand deleted her tone deaf post featuring the Minister smugly standing beside a food bank sign. We get it, it seems that for Liberals, the economic struggles of their constituents are seen as some sort of achievement.

Quick tip, Anita: deleting that tweet won’t erase the memory of the internet.

And now, the pièce de résistance: our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, decides it’s prime time for a luxurious vacation in Jamaica. Yes, while Canadians face queues at food banks and staggering inflation, he’s jetting off for some sunshine.

Trudeau is heading to Jamaica next week for a family vacation over the holiday break.

Trudeau vacations in Jamaica

The Prime Minister’s Office says Trudeau will travel with his immediate family to the Caribbean country from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4.

Jamaica is also where Trudeau and his family spent some time after Christmas last year, while they travelled to British Columbia for their summer vacation in August this year.

He will be travelling with Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, even after the pair announced earlier this year they were separating following 18 years of marriage.

Oh, but wait! He promises to reimburse the trip on a government plane. How thoughtful. But hey, is he covering the tab for Sophie’s boyfriend too? Asking for a nation!

So, while Canadians grapple with their darkest Christmas, their leaders are busy with tone-deaf antics. It’s a spectacle worth watching, but it’s hardly a festive one. This political circus is overshadowing the season’s cheer. Here’s hoping for a return to sanity in the new year for our dear ol’ Canada.
