One thing is quite clear: UK will find itself in a fix if Trump comes back to power in US. The recent allegations leveled by Trump against UK’s Labour Party are extremely serious and could even result in the imprisonment of some Kamala Harris advisors if Trump is voted to power. In 2016, it was Russia collusion theory, which was a hoax by the way. Now, eight years down the line, we have UK labour collusion theory, and it’s anything but a hoax.

Trump, the GOP nominee has filed a complaint against the UK’s Labour Party, accusing them of meddling in the upcoming US election. Trump’s campaign is angered by reports that Labour Party officials and activists have been advising the Democrats and even working in battleground states. While Labour insists that their involvement is perfectly legal since no financial contributions have been made, Trump and his supporters argue that this is blatant foreign interference, which could have serious consequences if Trump wins the presidency.

The core of the complaint lies in allegations of “foreign interference” in violation of US laws, which prohibit foreign nationals from contributing money or offering anything of value to support American candidates. Although Labour officials claim that their involvement does not break these laws because no money was exchanged, the Trump campaign contends that providing strategic advice is still a violation. For instance, Morgan McSweeney, the chief of staff to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Matthew Doyle, Starmer’s chief of communications, reportedly attended the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. There, they allegedly met with Kamala Harris’ campaign team, sparking outrage from Trump’s camp.

Adding fuel to the fire, Sofia Patel, Labour’s head of operations, posted on LinkedIn that nearly 100 Labour Party members would be traveling to key battleground states such as North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Patel even advertised job openings for those wanting to join the campaign in North Carolina. Although the post has since been deleted, Trump supporters, including Elon Musk, have flagged it as clear evidence of election meddling. However, Labour maintains that this type of political support is common in elections and not a violation of any law.

This situation has become especially ironic, given that Democrats have previously accused Russia of meddling in the 2016 US election, leading to claims of Trump’s collusion with the Kremlin. These allegations resulted in numerous investigations and the imprisonment of some Trump advisers, and they soured US-Russia relations. Now, the tables have turned, with Trump accusing the UK’s Labour Party of interfering in US politics in a similar manner.

If Trump wins the presidency, there could be serious repercussions for the UK, particularly for its ruling Labour Party. Trump is known for being outspoken and tough when he feels wronged, and the Labour Party’s involvement in this election could lead to strained ties between the US and the UK. Trump’s return to power may prompt him to take retaliatory actions, which could affect diplomatic ties, trade negotiations, and future collaborations between the two countries. The Labour Party may find itself facing Trump’s wrath for what he perceives as a serious breach of trust and political interference.
