The US-President elect Donald Trump delivered another strong address on Sunday. In the speech Trump pledged to stop the woke nonsense and “end the transgender lunacy.” The Republican leader also assured that he will come down heavy on child genital mutilation making it an official policy of the United States.
In a 90-minute speech at a conservative conference in Phoenix, Trump offered a triumphant view of his election victory and promised that a new “golden age in America” had begun. The transgender issue is one of growing significance in American politics with both the Republicans and Democrats having extremely diverging views on the subject. The President elect has a very strong opinion on the subject and his supporters too want to limit the influx of the ideology in every sphere of society, something they believe has been given a free run by the Democrats.
In the speech Donald Trump assured his supporters that with a stroke of pen, “we are going to end the transgender lunacy” and the mutilation of children, an apparent reference to gender-affirming surgery. “I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation, get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools and middle schools and high schools,” the president-elect said.
Trump also vowed to make a strong change in the field of sports. He declared to “keep men out of women’s sports,” adding that he will make the official policy of the United States to have only two genders. “It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female. We will keep men out of women’s sports,” he said.
“We’re going to stop woke,” Trump has pledged to “stop the transgender lunacy” from day one of his presidency, as Republicans, are set to gain control of both chambers of Congress and the White House.
Last week, when the US Congress approved its annual defense budget, it included a provision to block funding of some gender-affirming care for the transgender children of service members. Trump is also expected to pass an executive order that would remove transgender service members from the military as soon as his first day in office. Trump is reportedly preparing an order to issue following his inauguration on January 20 that would effectively ban trans people serving in the military- and then medically discharge the thousands of currently serving trans service members in the armed forces, The Times reported.
Trump is also planning to ban all transgenders from serving in the military and is expected to take decisive action once the official inauguration process is done. This order would force almost 15,000 people, believed to be transgenders, to be kicked out of their posts in the army. Additionally, Trump is expected to implement a complete prohibition on transgender individuals joining the military, despite various service branches currently facing recruitment challenges.
Transgenders will be medically discharged, which means they will be deemed “unfit” to serve, The Sunday Times reported quoting officials. The 78-year-old President in his first tenure declared that US would no longer “accept or allow” trans people in the military, citing tremendous medical costs and disruption.”
