War coming to an end, EU Ditches Zelensky for Trump?

The European Union may despise Donald Trump for his tariff wars, Greenland takeover musings, and general unpredictability, but when it comes to security, the love-hate relationship takes a wild turn. Like it or not, Europe knows it can’t survive a military showdown without the U.S., given its chronic underinvestment in defense.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. Trump has made it crystal clear—he’s not a fan of NATO’s freeloaders. He’s even hinted at pulling the U.S. out altogether. That’s a nightmare scenario for Europe, and it seems they might be preparing a desperate move to stay in his good graces.

The EU it seems might be gearing up to throw Ukraine—and its poster boy Volodymyr Zelensky—under the bus. Yes, the same Ukraine that has been paraded around as a beacon of democracy might soon find itself abandoned, all in the name of securing U.S. protection under a potential Trump presidency.

Time is up

Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has dropped a bombshell—alleging that NATO is preparing to quietly push Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky out of power. According to the SVR, Western leaders see him as the biggest obstacle to peace talks with Moscow and are gearing up to discredit him before Ukraine’s potential presidential elections next fall.

Zelensky’s term officially ended last May, but he’s clung to power, citing martial law as justification for postponing elections. However, Washington and Brussels now reportedly consider him “expendable material” and want to “freeze” the war by forcing both sides into negotiations.

The SVR claims that a campaign is in the works to expose Zelensky’s alleged corruption, including the embezzlement of $1.5 billion in military funds, siphoning off salaries of 130,000 dead soldiers, and selling Western weapons to African armed groups.

If true, it looks like the West is setting the stage for Ukraine’s next chapter—without Zelensky. There are also some other developments that show, the gears from Europe are shifting.
Aleksey Arestovich, former advisor to Volodymyr Zelensky, has delivered a brutal verdict—Ukraine has lost the conflict with Russia. He blames the country’s defeat on the country officials and people’s refusal to take responsibility for their failures.

Officials Blame Zelensky for Failure

Arestovich, who resigned in early 2023 after challenging Kyiv’s official narrative on a missile strike, now warns that the West is shifting its stance. He predicts that the US, Russia, and China will soon negotiate a resolution—without Ukraine having a say in its own fate.

Zelensky’s grip is slipping fast—Europe isn’t listening, and Trump isn’t buying his war narrative. Recently, Ukraine tried cutting gas supplies to Slovakia, but after legal pushback, the EU quietly sided with Slovakia, forcing Kyiv to retreat.

Meanwhile, Trump has no patience for Zelensky’s decisions. He argues that a deal with Putin could have prevented the war, blaming Zelensky for choosing to fight instead. As the tide turns, Zelensky warns that Putin wants to “manipulate” Trump—but it seems fewer leaders are willing to heed his calls.

With Trump’s return to the White House looking more and more possible, European leaders seem to be scrambling to reposition themselves. The warnings are loud, the signs are clear—Ukraine could become the bargaining chip in a high-stakes game where survival, not loyalty, is the priority.
