Since the past few weeks US President Donald Trump has been exposing the vast array of wastage expenditures of the past governments. Trump who had warned that he will cut down on wasteful state spending in his Presidential run has once again exposed the blatant wasteful spending of American taxpayer money, this time to destabilize the Indian government and meddle in their election process.
While addressing a Summit in Miami, Trump observed that the money had been spent to contrive a movement against Narendra Modi and that perhaps he should expose more details to the Indian government regarding the same, “Why do we need to spend $21 million on voter turnout in India? I guess they were trying to get somebody else elected. We have got to tell the Indian Government. This is a total breakthrough.”
Trump was visibly irate at the fact that the Democrat party and media had labelled a few ad dollars from Russia as election interference while millions of dollars being spent in other nations is not considered as interference.
He also asserted that he should convey the details to India so as to find out where that excessive money was being funneled to get someone else elected against Modi. Trump was directly indicating that the aid was being sent to meddle in India’s Prime Ministerial elections held last year that were won by the Narendra Modi led alliance. The ruling alliance in India has also claimed that vast sums of international funding had been sent to remove the Modi government from power.
“Why are we giving USD 21 million to India? They have a lot more money. They are one of the highest taxing countries in the world in terms of us; we can hardly get in there because their tariffs are so high. I have a lot of respect for India and their Prime Minister, but giving USD 21 million for voter turnout?” Trump said questioning why the money had to be sent in the first place.
Reaction in India
Such shocking exposes are now becoming a daily occurrence as the DOGE ministry headed by Elon Musk continues to take out the international spending bill of the USAID that had been quite evidently involved in destabilizing the domestic politic of a number of nations. Meddling in their elections and funding overt causes to deter the ruling parties.
Meanwhile the DOGE report has triggered a political slugfest in India with the ruling Modi led BJP alleging interference in the country’s election process.
BJP leaders have called the grant ‘external interference’ in India’s elections questioning who the beneficiary was, “USD 21M for voter turnout? This definitely is external interference in India’s electoral process. Who gains from this? Not the ruling party for sure!” the BJP’s IT department head said on X.
Meanwhile India has termed the matter “deeply troubling” and said that relevant departments and agencies are examining the potential implications. An official statement read, “We have seen information that has been put out by the US administration regarding certain USA activities and funding. These are obviously very deeply troubling. This has led to concerns about foreign interference in India’s internal affairs.”
Trump Calls it a Kickback Scheme
The expose comes just after a few days the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had finished his official visit to Washington to meet the new US President. Trump has now again raised the issue of $21 million funding for voter turnout in India’, calling it a kickback scheme, and said that nobody has any idea of what is going on there.
“And $21 million for voter turnout in India. Why are we caring about India turnout? We got enough problems. We want our own turnout, don’t we? Can you imagine all that money going to India? I wonder what they think when they get it. Now, it’s a kickback scheme. You know, it’s not like they get it and they spend, they kick it back to the people that send it. I would say in many cases, many of these cases, anytime you have no idea what we’re talking about, that means there’s a kickback because nobody has any idea what’s going on there,” he said
During his address at the Republican Governors Association (RGA) meeting Trump questioned the allocation of funds for continuous meddling in the Indian subcontinent and its affairs. Apart from the 21 million dollars spent in India Trump also tore into the scheme to spend $29 million for Bangladesh’s political landscape and $19 million for Nepal’s ‘biodiversity’.
The DOGE ministry has been exposing how millions of American taxpayers money has been funneled to countries around the world on outrageous pretexts. How the money was redirected is another question now on the mind of the American voter, as Trump has mentioned the aid being used to redirect kickbacks for so far anonymous entities. Looks like the DOGE exposé’s will continue, and the public should expect more such lists to be made public as the massive corruption scandal in American politics and bureaucracy is laid bare.
