The mainstream media has done the worst kind of disservice to the Presidency of Donald Trump, by underplaying how he tried to tackle the pandemic in the face of all the differences of opinions and a whole lot of confusion. Now, as more news and pieces of evidence pile-up, it is getting clear that it was Trump who saved America from a full-blown Corona storm brought-in by China, which could have been even worse than what the current situation seems to be.
It was the single-minded focus of Trump on the shenanigans of the Chinese Communist Party, that saved the US from an influx of counterfeit and fake masks and other medical supplies. As per Epoch Times, China accounted for about 51 per cent of counterfeit or substandard COVID-19-related products seized by US customs officials from October 2019 to September 30 last year, according to a newly-released report by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Among the products seized by the US customs officials were over 12.7 million counterfeit masks, 177,356 COVID-19 test kits prohibited by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and 38,098 FDA-prohibited chloroquine tablets. These actions under the federal government are an embodiment of the policy decision of the Trump administration to observe Chinese activities with all precautions.
The Trump administration saved the US from a two-fold impact of these actions. One, the fact that if the masks and other medical equipment would not have worked then it could have stalled any efforts to break the chain, and two, it could have fanned the conspiracy theories even further, thus ending the prospects of community efforts right from the get-go.
Donald Trump was the embodiment of how US leaders were supposed to act against its rivals. However, days after Joe Biden came to power, it seems that the US foreign policy has become literally meek. There are many instances within this small period but, the latest comes with Biden signing a memorandum, under which even using terms like ‘China virus’ and ‘Wuhan Virus’ will become illegal.
In the pretext to fight racism and xenophobia, Joe Biden has tried to meekly make China happy. He has used the absurd logic, that the norm of naming a pandemic with the place where it originated is racist, and thus that cannot be allowed. On the side note, this is the most bloated example of the coming of the far-left crazy talk into the mainstream political domain. The USA’s Asian allies were already preparing to go against China, but they too must not have expected a symbol of democracy like the US President kowtowing in front of the symbol of authoritarianism Xi Jinping.

On the other hand, under the Trump administration, the federal agencies were working in tandem with other organisation and keeping vigil against the Chinese designs. The FDA currently has a database listing fraudulent COVID-19 products, including test kits. The list contains company names and the names of their products.
In December last year, customs officials in Cincinnati seized 10,080 counterfeit surgical masks, which were labelled “3M Mask Model 1860,” in a shipment originating from China, according to a press release. The boxes containing the masks were fraudulently labelled as “Made in the USA.” If genuine, these fake 3M masks would have an estimated manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $65,520.

These findings and actions tell us a lot about how seriously and vigorously Trump was not letting the Chinese break the social bonds of the USA. Trump saved America from a full-blown Corona storm by cracking down on Chinese counterfeiting industry, however, the people have been kept in dark about it because of the media biases, and this is one of the saddest things. For a leader who did so much but is not recognised for nothing is truly sad.
