After being isolated in Republican Party, Mitch McConnell starts warming up to Joe Biden

Donald Trump is taking control of the Republican Party and purging it off all the people who have just namesaked Republicans and can turn out to be the Achilles’ Heel for the party. Now as the person who is spearheading the anti-Trump train, Mitch McConnell has found himself standing at the bad side of the majority of the Republican Party members. Now smelling the coffee, Mitch McConnell is warming up to Joe Biden.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, voiced rare approval of President Joe Biden—highlighting his agreement with the administration when it comes to its foreign policy toward Myanmar. McConnell has long championed helping Myanmar—a Southeast Asian nation that has been under military rule for the vast majority of the last six decades—move towards a more democratic system of governance. Although it may seem that it is a largely bipartisan issue, the fact that he is making effort to go the extra mile and support Joe Biden is all the proof needed.

Earlier Former President Donald Trump made a spectacular comeback to the political scene with a huge uproar. His supporters gave him the welcome he deserved and underlined that the Republican Party is indeed his party. During his speech, he united his supporters and accentuated his importance in the GOP as he ripped into his dissenters in Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell and Liz Cheney.

As the midterm elections approach, the Republican camp is back in operation, and Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, is at the centre of it all. Trump recognises the importance of the upcoming elections and wishes to rid the Republican Party of potential Achilles’ Heel candidates in the coming years. As the battle over Alaska’s Republican candidate heats up, Trump has labelled Pence a failure and McConnel a moron.

Trump entertained Republican National Committee donors, promising them vengeance and victory in the upcoming elections. He publicly criticised McConnell after he was placed on trial for the second time for impeachment. And this time, an attendee told Reuters anonymously that he called the senator a “son of a b***h.” This demonstrates Trump’s dissatisfaction with the Senate Minority Leader, who has maintained an anti-Trump posture at a time when the Republicans need to unite and rid the party of those who might jeopardise the party’s chances of victory.

With all this barrage of attack from Donald Trump and getting his façade demystified in front of all the Republicans, McConnell is becoming cosy with Joe Biden. Despite his opposition to virtually all of Biden’s domestic agenda, McConnell praised the administration’s response to Myanmar in a Politico interview published on Monday. The Republican senator has been advising the White House on how to deal with the crisis. This coming after being isolated in the Republican party makes a lot more sense.
