Canada has an airport problem—But Trudeau is flying to costa Rica for vacation

Trudeau has two sets of rules. One for himself and one for the rest of Canada. It seems difficult for the Canadians to take their Prime Minister seriously. Let’s tell you how.

Canada has been reeling under travel restrictions even post the pandemic era. For like two years, people all around the world were subjected to the cruel restrictions imposed in the wake of the sudden surge in Chinese virus. So now, it is a matter of relief for people that they can come out of these shackles of restrictions to feel the world again by travelling and enjoying the needed vacations.

But, now the main question is: Are the Canadians subjected to that relief? Hell, no. Only the Prime Minister can enjoy the needed vacations. Because, as we said, the PM of Canada Trudeau does not come under the gambit of the set of rules he has for his own country.

PM on holiday to Costa Rica

Despite the travel restrictions imposed in the country, the Canadian PM and his family are out on a two-week trip to Costa Rica. According to the PM’s office, the family is returning to the same place where they stayed over the Christmas holiday in 2019.

But wait, Canada is under some travel restrictions. Isn’t it? Well, when we talk about Canada, Mr. Trudeau is just an exception.

Airport crisis

However, post-pandemic, the whole of the world started unlocking and easing the restrictions but, when it comes to Canada the scenario remains completely different.

Nobody here can jump into a plane for vacation since the airline industry is in chaos. In both North America and Europe, thousands of flights have been cancelled and hundreds of thousands of passengers have had their trips disrupted. Canada is such a large country that it only comes second to a larger Russia. This demonstrates how important it is for individuals to be able to travel to other provinces when necessary.

As insane as it may sound, Air Canada has announced it will eliminate more than 150 daily flights for July and August. “Regrettably, things are not business as usual in our industry globally, and this is affecting our operations,” Air Canada president Michael Rousseau said in an email to customers when announcing the flight cutbacks.

But what transpired such a crisis in the aviation industry?

Canada’s Liberal government’s stance on COVID raised many eyebrows for its insanity. Prime minister Justin Trudeau took a firm stance against easing restrictions even after two years since the Chinese virus hit the towns. Sadly, Mexico, a country that is down the line when it comes to financial stability, managed a stellar comeback from restrictions, but not its North American peers in Canada.

Evidently, Mr. Trudeau has his own reasons to stop the people in Canada from travelling. Well, not just this but his much-stressed green goals also enters the plot.

Justin Trudeau- a climate hypocrite

Canadians now might walk around with a chip on their shoulder if they come to know about the PM’s hypocrisy. He is a climate hypocrite and he never really gives us a chance to think otherwise.

The Prime Minister has always been grabbing all the attention by pushing the need to lower carbon emissions. All of this is unreservedly normal but what isn’t is his hypocrisy. Justin Trudeau flows across the world via his private jet which accounts for a sizable amount of carbon emissions.

Even in April when the PM travelled from Montreal to Vancouver for his ski trip has a carbon footprint of about 2.07 tonnes, according to the calculator at carbonfootprint.com.

When he was finished with skiing and après-skiing, he took a flight back to Ottawa, which added another two tonnes of carbon to his already enormous carbon footprint.

As a result of poor preparation, his ski excursion resulted in an additional 4.18 tonnes of CO2 being released into the atmosphere on top of the 4.18 tonnes from his official trip. Since the average annual emissions for Canadians are 14 tonnes, according to Our World in Data, his entire journey resulted in more than eight tonnes of CO2.

Now, this is just a ballpark figure. The actual emission count is much higher.

“We know we need to cut emissions,” Trudeau said on his trip to Vancouver. Hilariously, does the Liberal Poster boy even trust his own words?

Well, you keep on finding the answer to this question, till then Justin Trudeau will relish his moment of vacation in Costa Rica.
