After Prairies provinces, Atlantic provinces rise up against dictator Trudeau

When it comes to climate change, the Canadian prime minister loses it. He frequently makes illogical conclusions regarding this matter and attempts to impose his decisions on the Canadian provincial governments.

We informed you earlier how the prairie provinces have unanimously rejected Trudeau’s proposed climate action schemes.

But now, Canada’s four Atlantic provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island — have also been added to the list.

More and more provinces are now rebelling against Trudeau’s irrational policies.

Canada is one of the nations that enjoy preaching to the world about morals, ethics, human rights, and climate change. It prefers to lecture the developing world about its obligations to nature rather than take decisive action on these pressing issues.

Not only does the Canadian federal government try to lecture the world, but it also wants to police its own provincial governments.

Almost a year ago, the four Atlantic provinces of Canada were asked to submit a strategy to curb climate change by Trudeau’s government. But the provinces could not achieve this goal by the designated deadline. Therefore, lately, on behalf of the four provincial premiers, Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston wrote a letter to the federal government.

In the letter, the premiers of Atlantic Canada asked the federal environment minister, Steven Guilbeault, to extend the deadline for submitting their plans to reduce carbon emissions, but the plea was categorically turned down by the federal authorities.

Guilbeault instead remarked, “Atlantic provinces, like all other provinces and territories, have had a year to prepare their submissions …. I want to be very clear about the importance of pollution pricing in making life more affordable for families.”

The federal government not only rejected the demand for extension, in fact, even without addressing the concerns of these provinces, the Trudeau government is also planning to impose the federal government’s carbon tax.

You see, this federal carbon tax obviously comes with implications for these Atlantic provinces.

One, the federal carbon tax, would result in price increases. The premiers of these provinces have also raised the same concern in the letter.

Tim Houston said, “the premiers are deeply concerned about the price increases that would result from a federal carbon tax, adding that the costs would amplify inflationary pressures in Atlantic Canada”.

He further added that the tax could add 14.4 cents per litre to the cost of gasoline in Nova Scotia by April 2023.

Two, this matter has the potential to become the subject of a tussle between the federal and provincial governments. Since the federal government has outrightly rejected any extension period for devising a strategy on carbon emissions, there is no room for further discussions. Hence, this could aggravate the relations between the governments.

Nevertheless, this was a great opportunity for the Trudeau government to take these provincial governments under its confidence because the federal government is already facing issues with other provinces, like Alberta. You know, with Trudeau’s disapproval ratings already plummeting, he would surely not want to lose any further confidence. But no, Mr Trudeau believes in living according to his own whims and fancies.

Already, Canada is undergoing an economic crisis, again, thanks to Trudeau’s unwise policy decisions. The provinces cannot, in the midst of this, put their plans for economic growth on hold in favour of carrying out federal directives. Furthermore, these provinces are merely asking for an extension to implement these carbon emission policies; they are not defying the federal government’s directives.

However, if Trudeau disregards these straightforward requests from the provincial governments, he would surely welcome further discontent and would dig his own political grave!
