China has not sent any weaponry to Ukraine amidst the Ukraine war. However, Xi is quite distressed by the happenings in Ukraine. No! It’s not like Xi has developed a puppy love for Zelensky, but, Xi definitely has a puppy love for his dominance in Xinjiang.
What’s the story?
According to Global Research, China has issued a warning that US weapons destined for Ukraine may find their way into the hands of terrorists in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Just like how weapons used to topple Gaddafi in Libya in the past ended up in the hands of terrorist organizations in Syria, Chinese authorities have highlighted that the same thing may happen in Ukraine.
Geng Shuang, China’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, reportedly voiced grave worries over Kyiv receiving arms at a UN Security Council meeting. According to him, such activities will simply make things more difficult rather than bring about peace.
Additionally, Geng Shuang indicated that China is extremely concerned about a significant amount of weapons and ammunition given to Ukraine slipping into the wrong hands.
China is concerned that American weapons supplied to Ukraine could fall into the hands of terrorists and pose a real threat to China’s economic interests in various parts of the world. But, that’s a straightforward facade.
Xi’s actual fear is that the weapons being ‘black marketed’ by Ukraine might end up in hands of ETIM, which is CCP’s staunchest opposer in Xinjiang.

Xi’s hatred for ETIM?
For those who don’t know, ETIM is an extremist group of native Uyghurs, a Muslim minority in China, whose objective is to form a sovereign nation of East Turkestan, carved out from the Xinjiang province.
The extremist group was active for years, however, it only referred to itself as the “East Turkestan Islamic Movement” (ETIM) in 1997. Since then, China has accused the ETIM of more than 200 terrorist incidents in Xinjiang resulting in casualties of many CCP veterans in the past.
In central Asian nations, ETIM has been connected to terrorist plots against US objectives. Prominently in nations like Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and even Afghanistan.
CCP wants to pull the plug on ETIM at any cost. In 2021, China held the first-ever diplomatic talks with the Taliban in which, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi requested Taliban leaders to crack down on the ETIM’s active bases in Afghanistan.
However, the exact opposite is happening in Afghanistan. EPIM is believed to be rebuilding several of its strongholds near Afghanistan’s border with China.
What if ETIM black-marketed weapons?
The US has given Ukraine weaponry since the inception of the war despite repeated warnings that US weapons are likely finding their way into the wrong hands,
It was reported that Ukraine is selling the weapons it bought from the West on the black market because the Kyiv forces are inefficient in effectively using them due to a lack of training and logistical difficulties.
There is severe suspicion that terrorist organizations are purchasing the majority of these black-marketed weapons.
Now, what exactly could happen if ETIM actually acquires US-manufactured weapons? Be very assured that Xi’s crackdown in the Xinjiang region would get a resounding response.
In the interest of standing in solidarity with Uyghur Muslims, ETIM would do everything in its reach to topple the CCP’s administration in the Xinjiang area.

Ukraine is arming terrorists with western weapons, and China is infuriated because of its own interests. Xi might bat an eye that it cares for global development and wants to end terrorism, but the truth is that China will always see its own self-interests first. At this point in time, ETIM is trying its best to destabilize the Xinjiang region and these black-marketed weapons could do their bit very easily.
