‘I don’t need to negotiate anymore,’ Putin declares as his men pound Ukraine

The war in Ukraine seems to be reaching its end with a ceasefire announcement a thing, not too far in the future. The European continent has been completely devastated owing to quashed gas supplies coming in from Russia. Now with the winters approaching, the Europeans would not be able to hold old to ego’s much longer.

The continent is already struggling due to unavailability of cheap gas which has made its manufacturing sector unsustainable. The cold winters would force the European leaders sitting in their warm castles to look after the local populace.

Putin holds the leverage

Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden stated that a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali in November “would depend” on what topics Putin wanted to cover. On Friday, Putin said he says there is “no need” to hold talks with Biden.

You see, Putin has time and again called for negotiations in the initial days of war but Biden has time and again blocked the proposals so as to solidify his legacy as the President who defeated Russia. French President Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also got around to calling for peace and ceasefire but Washington and London did not allow for the crisis to subside. The increased intervention of NATO led by Washington turned the whole situation out of the EU’s control but alas it was the EU that suffered the most.  And now, when Putin has successfully annexed and liberated the majority of ethnic regions in South Ukraine through referendums, his goal of the invasion has already been justified.

What has Changed?

The Kremlin was viewed as an evil force when the war began. Although over time as the local populace got a hold of why Moscow did invade in the first place, the perception changed.

Public opinion shifted and people started seeing Biden for what he is. Moscow’s action started being accepted as only taken in self defense against the expansionism of western powers. And with the Russian forces action plan to minimize the civilian losses and target only on critical infrastructure won hearts.

Today, the US is under recession with inflation trending at record high. Europe was devastated as it is and is also being hit by never seen waves of immigrants from the Middle east and Africa which are displaced by the financial ruin orchestrated by the Biden administration.

All Putin needs to do now is to hold out long enough to let things calm and declare a ceasefire. Soon, things would get back to normal and Europe would find a way to lift the sanctions and allow for the flow of natural gas into Europe.

Moreover, Putin has overwhelming support from the likes of financial and military giants like India and Russia. He does not need to hold talks with someone who can’t promise the end of the crisis because there seems to be no leader holding the Ukrainian front.

We say Zelensky is leading Ukraine but is he? Or is it the EU or Biden? Putin cannot get on the table with either of them because none of them act independently. So he would do what any sane person would do, sit back and let the cards play on their own.
