Azerbaijan’s Blind Love For Pakistan Undermines Global Fight Against Terrorism

In a recent series of incendiary statements, Dr. Ahmet Şairoğlu, a representative voice from Azerbaijan, delivered a blatant display of misplaced allegiance by publicly backing Pakistan, a country globally criticized for nurturing and exporting terrorism. While nations around the world are uniting to dismantle the networks of terror that threaten global peace and stability, Azerbaijan has chosen to stand on the wrong side of history.

Let’s be clear that Pakistan is no innocent victim. International agencies and global powers have repeatedly identified it as a haven for terrorists. From sheltering Osama bin Laden to supporting radical outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed—both responsible for countless attacks on Indian soil—Pakistan has built its foreign policy on duplicity and destruction. India’s cities have bled because of Pakistan’s proxy wars.

Yet, Dr. Şairoğlu believes boycotts and economic responses from India are “threats” and “intimidation”? This is a deeply irresponsible narrative. Every sovereign nation has the right to respond economically and diplomatically to regimes that align themselves with terrorist states. India’s actions are not intimidation—they are principled stands against extremism and injustice.

Instead of aligning with democratic, progressive values, Azerbaijan’s leadership is clinging to outdated notions of “brotherhood” and “history” that ignore Pakistan’s modern-day crimes. Friendship should be founded on shared values, not animosity or blind loyalty.

In standing by Pakistan, Azerbaijan is not defending dignity or justice—it is endorsing state-sponsored terror and disregarding the suffering of thousands of innocent civilians who have fallen victim to Pakistani-backed terrorism. No amount of poetic language about “honor” or “humanity” can whitewash this disturbing reality.

India, a vibrant democracy and a responsible global power, has every right to call out such hypocrisy. Baku must understand that supporting Pakistan comes with consequences—not because of any so-called “pressure,” but because the global community cannot stay silent when nations choose to side with those who harbor terrorists.

The world must take note. In today’s geopolitical climate, moral clarity is not optional. Azerbaijan must be held accountable for its reckless and provocative alignment. If it truly values peace, dignity, and justice, it should rethink its alliances—not just for India’s sake, but for its standing on the world stage.
