‘They were asking for it, they got it,’ Trump finally imposes brutal sanctions on Turkey and Erdogan did not see it coming

The Islamist country of Turkey led by its madmen President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been causing chaos and mayhem around the globe with a dream of creating the lost glory of the long-lost Ottoman Empire. However, American President Donald Trump has brought the sledgehammer on those unattainable dreams of Erdogan and quashed them to pieces. The US Treasury on Monday targeted Turkey’s defence procurement agency, known as the ‘Presidency of Defense Industries’, and its senior officials, including its President, and imposed sanctions on it for buying the S-400 missile system from Russia.

“Today’s action sends a clear signal that the United States will fully implement Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) Section 231 and will not tolerate significant transactions with Russia’s defence and intelligence sectors,” said Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a statement.

Mike Pompeo further added that the US had given more than enough warnings to the Islamist country and that the purchase of the weapon system posed threat to the USA’s military establishments.

“The United States made clear to Turkey at the highest levels and on numerous occasions that its purchase of the S-400 system would endanger the security of U.S. military technology and personnel and provide substantial funds to Russia’s defence sector, as well as Russian access to the Turkish armed forces and defence industry,” he said.

Turkey has established its image as an Islamist belligerent fuelling conflict across the already volatile regions of the South Caucasus, where Azerbaijan and Armenia have crossed swords, to the Gulf and Eastern Mediterranean.

Sensing a sanction dangling over Turkey’s head, the madmen leader Erdogan tried a last-ditch attempt to woo the Americans. It is being reported that Turkey selected a new ambassador to send to Israel after Ankara recalled its envoy in 2018 over the killing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip at the hands of Israeli forces.

Israeli-Turkish ties have remained frosty despite the 2016 normalization deal. And Donald Trump’s biggest legacy of his four-year Presidentship has been assimilating Israel with the Arab countries. Turkey has been against the signing of the Abraham Accords and thus the appointment of an ambassador to Israel at this moment is no mere coincidence but a carefully crafted ploy to please the American President.

Meanwhile, Trump is ensuring that when he leaves the White House, the Democrat leader Joe Biden will have no excuse in his arsenal to target him. The issue of Turkey is one of the few common points where Democrats and Republicans seemingly agree. Analysts have suggested that Biden is expected to take a tough stance on Turkey, if and when he comes to the White House. Trump wants to leave no stone unturned before leaving office, lest he is accused of going soft on Erdogan.

It is also being reported that more sanctions are on their way from the European Union and if it indeed does happen, Ankara would be crushed under the debris of its depreciating economy. Reported previously by TFI, Erdogan is manipulating his audience by claiming that he has found ‘gas reserves’ that could jumpstart the Turkish economy.

Erdoğan is in a desperate situation with the Turkish currency Lira plunging into a painful crisis and inflation hitting a record high. Therefore, when Turkey discovered a gas reserve in the Black Sea, Erdoğan immediately announced the beginning of a “new era”. However, the truth cannot be far from it.

The endless wars, the quest of creating an Islamic world, and the unquenchable thirst of being proclaimed a Calipha has simultaneously pushed Turkey to the verge of economic fallout. Sanctions are just the beginning of the end for Erdogan and if he continues to tread on this path, then there might be more bleak days ahead for him and his Turkish populace.
