Trump had become a symbol of hope for the young Chinese who wanted to throw CCP out of their country

Trump has lost the US Presidential polls. So, who is going to suffer the most for the shocking electoral defeat? The United States of America, the US allies or the Americans themselves?

Well, as surprising as it may be, it is the people of China who are going to lose out in a big way. This may sound strange given that Trump is a China hawk, and the biggest living enemy of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). But this is exactly why Trump was so important for the people of China. He was the only US President who could have rescued them from the clutches of the CCP.

Recently, when Trump got banned by several social media giants, there was a visible meltdown on the Chinese social media. Chinese citizens were apparently questioning why the outgoing US President was censored. Some of them even drew an analogy between what happened to Trump and the censorship culture in China.

But why should the people of China bother about what happens to Trump? Isn’t he the biggest enemy of China, who ransacked the Chinese enemy with trade wars?

Well, this is nothing new. Chinese citizens have always had a soft corner for Trump. The outgoing US President may be an enemy for the CCP-ruled People’s Republic of China (PRC) but he has always been a friend for the Chinese people who want to get rid of the tyrannical CCP rule.

From the very beginning, Trump made it clear that he hated the CCP and not the people of China. For the Trump administration, the CCP was the perpetrator and the people of China were simply victims of CCP rule. In fact, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a conscious effort at not referring to Xi Jinping as the “President of China”, and addressing him as the “General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)” instead.

Also, the top US diplomat made it a point to blame the Chinese Communist Party, and not China, during his press briefings. The message was clear- the White House wants to confront Communist authoritarianism in China and has no intention of harming the people of China.

The antagonism against the CCP went a long way in creating a mutual bond between an average Chinese citizen and the US President. Chinese citizens despise the CCP, but they don’t speak up given how the memories of Tiananmen Square still haunt them. Yet, they relished how an American President made an unprecedented effort to destroy the CCP.

Trump administration’s message probably even reached the people of China. So, when the US President lost the November 3 Presidential polls last year, Chinese American Trump supporters even raised election recount funds on WeChat– a popular Chinese social media and instant messaging app.

But even before the outgoing American President or the US Secretary of State, deliberately made CCP-centric criticism, Trump had fans in China. The people of China realised that while the CCP was destroying Chinese culture and tradition, the Trump administration was actually going to help the people of China get rid of the CCP and restore their cultural legacy.

Trump’s peace initiatives and even his American nationalism resonated with Chinese citizens. Then, he was also seen as ‘successful’ by the people, even though Trump kept fighting with the CCP administration. Above everything, Trump had become a symbol of hope for the Chinese youths who want to overthrow the CCP. So, as the White House prepares for a transition to the Biden regime, the people of China are the biggest losers.
