Fakeness runs in the nerves of China, be it the Chinese President or the Chinese media. Even the democracy in China is a false promise. However, it seems that the Chinese President, Xi Jinping is reluctant to accept this fact. He believes that people hold faith in his ruthless policies and brutal regime. But does he really believe that or he’s faking it?
Well, the Chinese President is now desperate to win the third term elections and wants to be a pre-eminent leader. Xi recently celebrated the fake results of a fake poll that the ‘fake president’ himself structured. China had conducted a nationwide survey that gathered public opinion on what the country’s senior leadership should look like in the next five years. According to Xi Jinping, the Chinese authorities gathered 8.54 million online opinions. And now, President Xi says he is poised for a third term as China’s leader. He believes he is practically guaranteed an unprecedented third term as the Chinese President.
Now, let’s delve into how fake this is.
China claims these polls to be an example of a “whole-process people’s democracy,” but hello! Is a word like ‘democracy’ even known to the Chinese people? Debatable. While the Xinhua report was vague about what people said, it cited Xi saying that “a myriad of constructive ideas and suggestions” were submitted.

Maybe, the Chinese president is doing a mistake in deciphering the meaning of ‘people’s democracy’ because it implies that the Chinese government actively allows citizens to influence policies and major decisions after the local election concludes. However, this is precisely in contrast to Xi’s actions. Evident from the much unsolicited and ruthless ‘Zero-Covid policy’.
Touted COVID-19 policy
Ever since the COVID pandemic kicked off in March 2020, all the countries imposed lockdowns to contain the spread of the virus and so did China. The pandemic continued and the countries started to develop resilience with time but China as usual, branched off from the world. China still continues to withhold with its stringent lockdowns and containment measures.
When a single new case was verified in Beijing in June 2020, the authorities acted rapidly to pinpoint the origin, isolate the high-risk areas, and start a major testing programme. This has become an SOP in Jinping’s country, leaving the Chinese more susceptible to the virus than others on the planet as Chinese simply lack the immunity to fight the virus. China isn’t ready to accept a shift in its policy, which is the need of the hour.
It is strange that Jinping can’t realise that this touted policy is killing China’s economy and people as well. 45 cities in China are still under full or partial lockdown that make up around 40% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Moreover, lockdowns of lesser intensity have also been imposed in cities affecting 70% of the country’s total GDP.
This has thrown China’s economy out of order. But the ignorant Chinese president is not at all ashamed of calling his regime as people’s friendly that follows people’s democracy.

The downfall of the Chinese economy
China is already reeling under an economic disaster due to many reasons, of which, orchestrating a witch hunt of Chinese wealth creators and big domestic firms is one. However, there’s still one question – How long will it take for the process to conclude? In view of the latest numbers and developments regarding the Chinese economy, the answer may soon be with us. An index of Chinese businesses listed in Hong Kong, which has been the worst-performing major stock gauge in the world this year, is sliding further behind its peers.
China cracking down on its Tech sector
The big tech sectors in China are in a complete haywire of their investments in the country. They are banking on other countries for investments now but China can’t get over its witch-hunt over the tech-sector to feed the ego of Xi. China under Xi is doing everything to scare the tech sector investors away.

Now, with all this haphazard going on in China, if people are awakened enough to cast a vote, it’s surely not going in Xi’s favour. Jinping’s policies have faced criticism but still Jinping is living in a dream world.
