Despite being a member of the bloc, Hungary has always been a staunch opponent of the European Union. The European Commission, which runs the European Union on a day-to-day basis has frequently criticized Viktor Orban’s government and threatened financial and legal sanctions against it.

However, Viktor Orban doesn’t bother about it at all. Viktor Orban constantly pitches that he is representing the Hungarian people and won’t let foreigners run his country.

There is not even a single field where the EU has not lambasted Budapest. Whether it is human rights, migrant treatment, or corruption, EU has never backed off from locking its horns with Hungary. They say that a dictator is running Hungary and the nation is suffering from severe ‘instability’.

However, data states otherwise. In reality, among all of the European Nations, it is Hungary that is more ‘stable’ than the rest.

Hungary is Stable

According to the data gathered by Pantarhei, a Vienna-based management consultancy, Hungary is at the top of its ‘EU instability index’, followed by Cyprus, Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Germany.

While Spain, Bulgaria, and Italy are listed as the most unstable countries in their “EU instability index,”. The reason behind this that they have recently seen a combination of weak coalitions and frequent changes in administration.

The score is mostly based on the number of parties represented in the government and the number of changes to the executive branch over the previous two parliamentary terms.

As per the report, 21 of the EU’s 27 member states have seen sudden government changes. Out of this, there were four governments in Bulgaria, six in Austria and Italy, and seven in Romania.

Hungary has outperformed every country on the continent and came on top portraying itself as a strong and stable nation. Viktor Orban’s Fidesz has been in power uninterrupted since 2010, he has fought four consecutive elections and won all of them single-handedly.

A Jinx broken

Remarkably, this report has come at a time when the EU is suffering from troubles at every corner. The limited gas supplies via Russian pipelines have wreaked havoc in Europe, where the price of energy increased tenfold.

Moscow recently suspended the majority of its gas exports to Europe until the latter removes the sanctions. Whereas, the European leaders have left Common European in midst of complete chaos.

However, that’s not the case with Hungary. Out of all European Nations, Budapest is still comfortably sitting on a pool of energy. Despite sanctions, the nation has kept its 15-year deal with Russian energy giant Gazprom in motion.

Viktor Orban has been known for having cordial relations with Putin. This relation has always been a contention between the EU and Hungary.

Hungary is undoubtedly securing energy supplies from Russia. Whereas the EU is simply crying over the spilled milk, it is despising Hungary for its actions.

Let’s talk about the EU’s major guns now; practically all of them are sitting on a rocky chair thanks to their reckless aggression over the war in Ukraine. The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is suffering from infighting within his own cabinet, Italian PM Mario Draghi is poised to leave Chigi palace because Italians have ousted his liberal ideologues in recent snap elections.

Smaller countries are in a far worse situation. Over the previous two years, there have been four governments in Bulgaria, while there has recently been a fall of a government in Montenegro. The conflict in Ukraine is to blame for all of it.

Despite being despised by all of these countries, Hungary has excelled.

Without any shadow of a doubt, one of Europe’s most capable leaders is Viktor Orban. Only Hungary has been able to survive the whole catastrophe in Ukraine because of his unwavering and solid approach.
